Once again, a Hindu woman lost her life after coming into a relationship with a Muslim man. In a recent case from the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh, Sonam Sharma was found dead in mysterious circumstances with Rahul alias Mohsin in her flat. Mohsin has been booked on charges of abetment to suicide and others.

The case follows a frequent pattern where Muslim men pose as Hindus to trap Hindu women for conversion. The pattern is commonly referred to as ‘Love Jihad’ by the media.

Rahul used to torture Sonam

A First Information Report (number–533/2023) was registered at the Hapur Nagar police station on July 23, by the victim, Sonam’s brother Mukul Sharma.

In his complaint, 23-year-old Mukul told police that his sister, 30-year-old Sonam, had been living with Rahul in the Anand Vihar area for the past two years. They both used to work at Tilak Nursing Home in Freeganj, Hapur.

Mukul and his other sisters, Vineeta and Monika, used to talk to Sonam almost every day via video call.

He added almost every day Sonam used to tell them how much Rahul used to beat her up, he borrowed money from her to get a bike as well. It turned out that Rahul was Mohsin.

Copy of the FIR, as accessed by Organiser

On July 23, Sonam talked to Mukul and others like every day. Later around 1:30 at night, his sister Monika informed him about the accident. They rushed to her flat and took her to the Nandini hospital, where the doctors declared her brought dead.

Her landlord Priyanka told them that, on the dreadful night, Rahul alias Mohsin and Sonam were having an argument. Later, Priyanka and Rajpal went to their flat and dragged Rahulk out. Tortured Sonam, jumped off the balcony and committed suicide.

Mukul named Rahul alias Mohsin as the culprit in his FIR.

What Mukul told Organiser?

This correspondent called Mukul on July 25, he said, Sonam was living in Hapur whereas all his family lives in the village. His father is a farmer by profession.

Sonam was a divorced woman, who was working as a nurse at Tilak Hospital in Hapur. She met Mohseen at the hospital and later fell in love with him. They started living together around two years ago at Anand Vihar Society. Mohseen was also married and had two children. He was not living with his mother and wife and used to meet them once in a while.

He said, the accused had been arrested and he cannot share much with the correspondent at this time, as he was catering guests at the home.

What the family told media?

Sonam’s sister alleged Mohseen introduced himself as Rahul. He was Muslim and physically assaulted Sonam frequently. She further alleged Mohseen killed her sister by pushing her from the second floor of the building. “He used to beat her daily. We were not aware that he was a Muslim. My sister had been living away for over four years. She called me last night and sounded sad,”

“When I called her later, a woman named Priyanka picked up the call and informed us that she was in the hospital. She said Sonam fell from the roof, and Rahul pushed her. However, in the morning, she said Sonam fell herself. She fell on her head,” she added in a video statement.
