A class 11, Hindu student went to school wearing ‘tripund tilak’ and a rudraksha bracelet, for which the school administration punished her. The student made a video of the incident and shared it on social media. Later, the administration allegedly lodged a complaint against her, which sparked protests and controversy. The incident has come to light in the Modipuram area of the Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh.

The girl is a student at Subhash Inter College, located in Modipuram area. The principal of the school has accused the girl of disrupting harmony by inciting religious fanaticism among fellow students.

The principal said, “The girls discussed topics like love jihad with other students, and nothing of this sort can be accepted on campus”.

She added, “The girl used to share views against the Muslim community and used to target them. She said, We will burn them on the streets, we will not let any Muslims rot the lives of Hindu girls anymore. This school houses students from different communities, and such behaviour cannot be accepted. This is an educational institution”.

As per the media reports, the girl student has been wearing tilak and rudraksha for a long time now. Even though she was stopped by the authorities, she continued to wear it every day. Almost two days ago, she recorded everything on a mobile phone and shared the clip on social media, accusing the school for their behaviour. She made serious allegations against the school.

After the video came out, the school administration filed a written complaint at the Pallavpuram police station. Later, the minor’s family reached the school and protested.

The minor’s mother, while interacting with the media, said, “I watched The Kerala Story and The Kashmir Files with my daughter. This is the age I should teach my girl about love jihad and other targeted crimes. I told my daughter, and she told her friend, What is wrong with this?”

She further added, “We voted for Yogi Ji so that no one takes away our tripund tilak, our rudraksh or our kalawa”.

On July 20, Organiser reported a similar case from Jharkhand’s Bokaro where a student was asked to remove kalawa before entering the Carmel Convent School. Notably, activists assembled outside the school on July 18, after a minor Hindu boy was thrashed by the teachers for wearing ‘Kalawa’ (a sacred thread).

As per the reports, a class 9 student of the convent school was punished for allegedly wearing a ‘Kalawa.’ The teachers made him cut the thread. Following this information, the Hindu activists assembled at the school and protested. They also met the principal of the school, Sister Joyce Kullu A.C. The activists demanded that the principal initiate an inquiry into the case and take immediate action against the accused teacher.

Organiser reported a similar case on July 11, from the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand. Here, a 17-year-old Hindu girl killed herself after her teacher at Saint Xavier School insulted her in front of the whole school.

She wrote a suicide letter before hanging from the ceiling fan and named the teacher as the reason for her suicide. She said, “I am not able to digest the insult, so killing myself”.

Usha was upset over her insult in front of the whole class. Notably, one of her teachers identified as Sindu Mam, not only scolded Usha but also slapped her for wearing a Bindi at the school. Usha committed suicide on July 10 in her house.

Following the family’s complaint, the accused teacher and the principal of the school were booked.

Organiser reported a similar case from Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, a 17-year-old Hindu girl Lavanya Muruganantham committed suicide. She was a student of Sacred Heart Girls Higher Secondary School, a recognized minority school administered by Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. Her parents alleged that the student was forced to do work by the warden after she allegedly refused to convert to Christianity.

On January 9, 2022, Lavanya consumed pesticide in an attempt to kill herself. After she was taken to a hospital, she regained consciousness but ultimately died on January 19, 2022.
