Assam CM deletes INDIA from social media profiles and add BHARAT to it after criticising Opposition alliance

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma removes ‘India’ from his social media profiles on July 18. After slamming the opposition alliance’s name ‘INDIA’ inspired from colonial mindset and said INDIA is not Bharat. Hours after that CM Himanta Biswa changed his twitter bio and add Bharat to it. The CM said that it was the British who named the nation India and hours after his sharp criticism of the opposition alliance ‘INDIA’ the Assam Chief Minister removed the word India from his Twitter bio, facebook profile and changed it to Bharat.

CM Sarma in a tweet said, “Our civilisational conflict is pivoted around India and Bharat. The British named our country India. We must strive to free ourselves from colonial legacies. Our forefathers fought for Bharat, and we will continue to work for Bharat. BJP for BHARAT”.

CM Sarma reacted to a question by reporters in the sideline of a programme in Guwahati on July18 after the 26 opposition changed the name of the alliance from UPA to INDIA in the Bangalore conference. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge announced the name of the Opposition alliance for 2024 general election as Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).
