Karnataka: Major terror plot averted in Bengaluru; Crime Branch nabs Syed Suhail, Umar, Junaid, Mudashir and Zahid

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested the five suspected terrorists from different areas of Bengaluru. Reports claim that the suspects had devised a meticulous plan to undertake blasts in the silicon valley that is Bengaluru.

Citing details about the suspects, the CCB official said, “All five identified as Sayed Suhel, Umar, Janid, Mudasir, and Jahid, were accused in a 2017 murder case and were in Parappana Agrahara Central jail where they came in contact with terrorists.”

The CCB officials received a tip off, post which they swung into action. The team of CCB officials traced the location and arrested the suspected terrorists from a house next to the mosque in Sultanpalya under the Hebbal Police Station limits.

Links with terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda, while addressing the media said, “The serial blasts accused is linked to terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.”

The terrorists possessed seven pistols, ammunition, four walkie-talkies, two satellite phones and two daggers.

According to reports the investigative agencies are also on a look out for five other individuals whose involvement in the planning of the terror attack cannot be ruled out.

Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai hails CCB

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai came out oin support of the CCB for the commendable job. Bmmai Added, “There is a big conspiracy. They wanted to do serial bomb blasts in Bengaluru. This case should be handed over to the NIA.”

The terror suspects have been booked under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Arms Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
