Jharkhand: Heart-wrenching visuals emerges from RIMS; Husband toes his wife after waiting for two months for operation

This is not the first time that the State's largest hospital is doing the rounds on the internet for all bad reasons, as earlier in February, the hospital rose to the limelight after thirty-eight out of 50 freezer compartments in the newly renovated morgue were found to be defunct

Equality for all is considered one of the essential pillars of democracy. Still, in the world’s largest democracy, there are incidents which are not only disheartening to a vibrant democracy but also a shame to humanity.

In a similar instance, a hapless man was seen toeing his wife on his shoulders after he waited for around two months in RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences) hospital in Ranchi, hoping that his wife would get treated in the State’s so-called best healthcare centre, on May 30.

The heart-wrenching visuals were captured by a TV journalist Sohan Singh who worked with the times now network. Taking it to Twitter, Sohan Singh, while posting a few photos of the couple, said ‘that after admitting his wife for two months in RIMS, the hospital administration did not facilitate the wife’s operation. Even the husband of the patient was not provided with a trolley to take her wife outside, following which the patient’s husband was forced to toe his wife on his shoulders.

“I have done what I could have done; now It’s up to the god whether he wants to keep her alive. In RIMS, only those who got some approach are treated while the rest are left waiting, said the patient’s husband Vishnu while toying his wife with moist eyes”, Sohan Singh tweeted further.

As per the information shared by the Times now journalist Sohan Singh, the patient Sushmi Devi, is a resident of Nonihat of Dumka district who was admitted in RIMS for her operation, however even after waiting for two months, the hospital administration could not get her operated.

Fed up with the ignorance and uncooperative attitude of the hospital administration, Sushmi’s husband Vishnu finally decided to take her home. However, the irony is even when the couple were leaving the hospital; the administration even failed to provide them with a trolley to the gate, following which a hapless Vishnu decided to toe her wife on his shoulders.

According to some unconfirmed reports, Sushmi has a tumor, and her husband worked as a daily labourer who found it hard to wait more, given his financial condition and decided to take his wife home.

Speaking with the Organiser, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Avinash Singh said that the Hemant Soren-led Government has become an epitome of mismanagement and misrule. As far as RIMS is concerned, the honourable High Court had already expressed its disappointment over the pathetic State of affairs; however, despite the concerns raised by the honourable court, the State Government seems to be mentally paralyzed.

At Least the State Government should have thought about the better functioning of RIMS given the fact it is the focal point for treatments of the poor in the State, but look how the State’s Health Ministry is functioning where even the Health Minister is at odds with his own partymen. It’s natural for the officers working under the current health ministry to behave like this; this is nothing but an utter failure of the Soren government, concluded Sohan Singh.

Let us tell you that this is not the first time that the State’s largest hospital is doing the rounds on the internet for all bad reasons, as earlier in February, the hospital rose to the limelight after thirty-eight out of 50 freezer compartments in the newly renovated morgue were found to be defunct.

As per a report published in the ‘Times of India’ web portal, the mortuary, which had the capacity to house 50 bodies, was renovated at a cost of Rs 60 lakh during Covid-19 and had been out of order for the past one year.
