Primary schools to remain closed in Assam, CM Sonowal calls for public cooperation

State chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal urged the people to follow all necessary health protocols. Sonowal in presence of State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a review meeting on Monday with the responsible officials from health department, disaster management, police , etc and discussed about the action plan for tackling the second upcharge of novel corona virus in the State. Asserting that the government is taking all possible measures to save the peoples’ precious lives, Sonowal also urged everyone to wear mask, sanitize hands and maintain social distancing. He also added that State chief secretary and police chief will announce new corona-guidelines today through a press conference.

Earlier, minister Sarma informed that the district authorities have been asked to fine people ₹ 1,000 for not wearing face masks in public. For the time being, he ruled out a lockdown in Assam. Sarma, also in charge of education ministry, added that a series of camps to vaccinate teachers in educational institutions would be organized.
