Farmers’ Protests Caused Revenue Loss of INR 814.4 Crores for NHAI in Punjab, Haryana & Rajasthan

The ongoing farmers’ protests have caused a revenue loss of INR 814.4 crores for the National Highways Authority of India in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.

The loss was caused as the toll collection centres remained non-functional.

The Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari informed Rajya Sabha about the revenue loss in a written reply Monday.

The NHAI suffered the highest loss of INR 487 crores in Punjab. It was followed by INR 326 crores in Haryana and INR 1.4 crores in Rajasthan.

The farmers’ have been protesting against the three progressive farm laws passed by the Union government.

The minister informed the House that respective state government officials have been asked to take measures to ensure the toll collection starts at the earliest.
