‘Secular discrimination’ raises its head again – Mumbai professor and Kerala doctor targeted by Congress and Jihadis for expressing their views and for their association with RSS

A Mumbai professor was punished for speaking against Rahul Gandhi. A Kerala doctor is being targeted for supporting CAA and being associated with Seva Bharati. Yet, none of the FoE activists or self-proclaimed liberals have spoken for them.

A Mumbai professor was punished for speaking against Rahul Gandhi. A Kerala doctor is being targeted for supporting CAA and being associated with Seva Bharati. Yet, none of the FoE activists or self-proclaimed liberals have spoken for them.

Prof and Doctor targeted_
Prof. Yogesh Soman (Left) and Dr. Ranjit Vijayahari have been targeted for expressing views against Rahul Gandhi, supporting CAA and for their association with RSS inspired organisations.

Congress governments in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan had openly declared that anyone with a RSS background or associated with any of its activities would be targeted and removed from any government post they held. It was also reported that those serving in the state’s universities and colleges are being targeted in these two states. However, none of the FoE warriors or liberal activists spoke a single word against such blatant discrimination.

Now, this secular discrimination only seems to be increasing with anyone expressing their views against Congress leaders or associated with RSS inspired organisations being punished only for having a view.

Mumbai University professor targeted by Congress

Yogesh Soman, a Senior professor at Mumbai University has been sent on compulsory leave for expressing his opposition to the comments of Rahul Gandhi on Veer Savarkar. Prof Soman is the director of the Academy of Theatre Arts of the Mumbai University. Rahul Gandhi had infamously made disparaging comments on Savarkar and said that he was not Rahul Savarkar and will not apologize for speaking the truth.

The video where Prof. Soman expressed his views against Rahul Gandhi for his disparaging remarks against Veer Savarkar

On December 14th, Professor Yogesh Soman posted a video on Twitter questioning Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on Savarkar. In the video he said “You are right you are not Savarkar. You have nothing of him in you, his dedication, his sacrifice his valour, but you also do not have anything to be called Gandhi. I condemn your pappugiri”. Congress activists had protested against the professor and demanded his expulsion and punishment.

With Shiva Sena coming into power with the help of Congress and NCP, targeting the professor for expressing his views against Rahul Gandhi was imminent. Students unions affiliated with the Congress and the Left protested and demanded action against the professor. The state government promptly acted and action was taken against Yogesh Soman by sending him on leave. The university issued a letter to the Professor on Tuesday stating that he had been sent on forced leave. The students withdrew their strike after the notice.

The Congress has made its intolerance known by openly stating that action against Prof. Yogesh Soman was because of this association with an RSS inspired organisation. Maharastra Congress spokesperson has termed action against professor Soman as ‘cleansing education system’ of persons with RSS ideology and background. The statement by Congress makes it clear that the action against the Professor was instigated by the party and the Shiv Sena only adhered to it to stay in power.

Kerala doctor targeted by Jihadis

In another instance of discrimination against those associated with RSS, a doctor in Trivandrum is being targeted by Jihadis. His crime – being associated with RSS-inspired Seva Bharati and speaking in favor of CAA.

Dr. Ranjit Vijayahari, a Gastro-enterologist who runs a clinic in Trivandrum is being targeted by Jihadis for his views on CAA and his association with RSS. The doctor narrated his experience on Twitter on Wednesday. He tweeted that he has served people of all religions as a member of Seva Bharati but now his practice is being targeted by Jihadi elements for supporting CAA.

In a series of tweets, Dr. Ranjit shows how a organised group of Jihadi Muslims have been requesting others from their community not to avail his services as he is ‘a communal doctor’.

The doctor also indicates that one Muhammad Shaffi is the ring leader of this group who is instigating people not to go to his Gastro Clinic by making false allegations and calling him a ‘Sanghi Doctor’. Shaffi himself is a Health Management Official as per his Facebook account which is full of anti-Modi and anti-BJP posts. His hatred of RSS is also evident from his posts.

His posts against Dr. Ranjit and the way he was targeted reeks of organised syndicate that exists in the state to target anyone associated with the RSS and inspired organisations. Despite these recent incidents of intolerance against anyone associated with RSS or expressing their views against ‘Secular’ leaders, none of the liberals and FoE activits have spoken in favor of them.
