The massive enthusiastic gathering of about four lakh people at the BJP’s Vikas Parva Rally in Saharanpur on May 26 indicates towards the trust that the Modi-led NDA government continues to enjoy after two years of governance

Uttar Pradesh seems to be ready to get rid of the Samajwadi Party’s goodaraj and misrule. The huge gathering of about four lakh people turned to the BJP’s Vikas Parva rally in Saharanpur on May 26 presented the 2014 Lok Sabha scenes. When Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was addressing the rally, various news channels were busy in analysing his government’s two year performance. Both, the massive gathering turned to the rally and also the outcome of the media surveys, shows the public trust in Modi’s leadership as well as the steps that he has taken for development has deepened. The rally bore ample testimony to the fact that the Modi Magic polls still holds good for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.
As Modi started his speech the gathering reverberated the Ground with the skyrocketing slogans of Har Har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi, Bharat Mata ki Jai, Vandemataram. As the cheering crowed calmed down he reminded them that being an MP from Banaras he too now belongs to UP, therefore, he has full right to seek blessings from the people of the State. Modi was more than pleased to see lakhs of people thronging to the venue in the scorching heat. His face beaming with the same old brightness and aura was attracting the people towards him.
The Prime Minister said the ground proved insufficient to house the surging crowd. Advocate Vinod Tejwan, a Dalit leader who joined the BJP recently told Organiser that Dalits are more attracted to the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi. That is why 20 to 30 per cent Dalits from Dalit majority Saharanpur District attended the rally. This is surprising and may prove as a shock to BSP Supremo Mayawati and her party as well.
More surprising is the fact that the two Muslim farmers of Chunhaiti Village, who gave their land for the meeting and helipad, did not seek any compensation. They said Modi is our Prime Minister besides being our honourable guest, how can we demand compensation for his meeting?
Prime Minister expressed his concern for the sugarcane producing farmers of the State. He said he would not allow the sugar mill owners and State government to play with the farmers in payment for their sugarcane. The Central government had given Rs 6,000 crore for clearing the payment backlog. The payment backlog that was to the tune of Rs 14,000 crore is now reduced to Rs 7 to 8 hundred crore. He warned the sugar mill owners to change their attitude and urged the State government to clear the payment backlog. He said the Central government has prepared a policy for sugar mills that, if implemented honestly no farmer would face difficulty in getting proper price for his products. Sugar mills can earn better with ethanol. This can be mixed with petrol to the extent of 5-10 per cent to benefit environment, foreign exchange and farmers. He also underlined the importance of Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme as a big step in the interest of farmers.
He said earlier 65 per cent revenue used to be with the Centre and 35 per cent with the States. Now he has changed this and reversed the ratio to strengthen the states to undertake public welfare schemes. The Village Panchayats are given Rs 2 lakh crore to accelerate development.
The Prime Minister announced that the retirement age for government doctors would be raised to 65 with a view to provide better healthcare facilities to the rural and Vanvasi areas. He appealed to all the doctors to conduct free check up of expectant mothers on every ninth day of each month. He referred to the popular response to his appeal to give-up LPG subsidy to which over one crore people responded. Similarly, he hoped that the doctors would devote 12 days in a year to examine expectant mothers and treat them properly so reduce maternity death rate.
Shri Modi stressed that development is the answer to each and every problem. He said that the country is changing but some people refused to change their mindset. His entire focus was on inclusive development, village, poor, farmers, labours, and youth and the schemes aimed at improving their lots. Thanking people who came braving the scorching sun, for showing such a love and affection to him, Modi said the entire world today accepted that India has become the fast developing country. There is not a single allegation of corruption against his government in these two years. He assured that his endeavour is to ensure corruption-free government and the entire revenue be used for the welfare of the people. His ministers would tour the country to tell the people about the achievements of the government.
The Prime Minister appealed to the people to save each drop of water. He said his government has given over one crore LPG connections free to poor people and next year this number would go to five crore. He said that his government is implementing schemes taking in view the 125 crore Indians and not for any particular castes, groups or sections of the society. Expressing serious concern over the falling ratio of girl children he said his government has given the slogan of ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ and its endevour is to set the ratio as 1000 girls per every 1000 boys.
The Prime Minister hoped that by 2022, when India would be celebrating 75th year of Independence, the income of the farmers would have doubled. He said his government is working to make better roads, electricity, education, health and employment to rural people. Out of the 18,000 villages his government succeeded in providing power to 7,108 villages. Mudra Bank has benefited 3.25 crore with financial assistance to the tune of Rs 1.25 lakh crore from the central government.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh questioned the efficacy of SP government to deal with law and order situation. He appealed to the people to elect BJP government by decisive voting as was done by the people during the Lok Sabha elections. He said the BJP has opened its account in the North-east by pocketing Assam. He hoped that the hill states would soon follow the suit. Bharatiya Janata Party national vice president and incharge of UP Shri Om Mathur and State president Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya also addressed the rally.
