PATNA: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal member Dr Manmohan Vaidya said that the holistic development of the nation is possible only through an organised society. He noted that the Sangh works to organise society through its shakhas, while several organisations associated with the Sangh’s broader ideological family are active in different fields of national life, with dedicated workers serving Bharat through their respective areas of work.
Dr Vaidya was addressing the Vijayadashami Utsav organised by RSS Patna Mahanagar on Sunday at the Shakha Maidan in Rajendra Nagar. The programme was presided over by Mahanagar Sanghchalak Dr Rajiv Kumar Singh. Captain Udyam Priyarishap, Director of Alankar Motors, attended as the chief guest.
Highlighting the RSS’s journey over the past 100 years, Dr Vaidya emphasised its efforts to organise society and encourage participation in different spheres of national life. He said that an increasing number of young people were expressing an interest in joining the Sangh.
Citing recent data, he said that 60 per cent of those who expressed their desire to join the RSS through the ‘Join RSS’ initiative during the previous month belonged to the 20–30 age group. He also noted that RSS shakhas were now present in 60 per cent of the country’s mandals, reflecting the organisation’s expanding reach.
Dr Vaidya said that during its centenary year, the Sangh had set the goal of advancing Panch Parivartan, or five transformative changes, to contribute to nation-building. These include social harmony, family enlightenment, civic duties, environmental protection and the adoption of Swadeshi practices.
Explaining the significance of social harmony, he said that people belonging to different castes, communities, languages and regions should live together with mutual friendship and a sense of familial belonging. He emphasised that all Hindus should have equal access to temples, water sources and cremation grounds.
On family enlightenment, Dr Vaidya stressed the importance of strengthening communication and positive relationships within families. He urged swayamsevaks to make time for at least one meal with their families every week in a positive and harmonious atmosphere.
He also called for adopting an environment-friendly lifestyle and incorporating Swadeshi products, ideas and traditions into everyday life. Emphasising civic responsibility, he said that fulfilling one’s duties as a citizen was also a form of service to the nation.
Speaking about the relevance of Vijayadashami, Dr Vaidya said the festival symbolises the victory of truth over falsehood and dharma over adharma. He added that the occasion inspires society to stand against injustice, maintain harmony and discharge its responsibilities with sincerity and commitment.
The programme was attended by swayamsevaks from all six sub-divisions of Patna Mahanagar, RSS functionaries and prominent members of society.
