As part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) centenary year programmes, an interaction with young doctors on the theme "Role of Youth in the Reawakening of the Nation" was organised on August 4. Addressing the gathering, Dr Manmohan Vaidya, Member of the RSS Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini, said that Bharat's 'Swa' is rooted in spirituality, which binds society together, and emphasised the importance of duties, cultural identity and youth participation in nation-building

There are many countries in the world, including Germany, Japan, France, England, Russia, the United States and Australia. These countries also have democracy and elections, but their citizens have a common understanding of who they are, who their ancestors were and what their history is. Therefore, they continue on the right path. Unfortunately, people in Bharat do not have unanimity on these questions said, Dr Manmohan Vaidya, Member of the Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini of the RSS during an interaction programme with young doctors on the theme “Role of Youth in the Reawakening of the Nation” organised on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

The programme, held at the Medical College Auditorium, Ajmer, commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before the portrait of Bharat Mata. The programme was presided over by Dr. Anil Samaria, Principal of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. RSS Vibhag Sanghchalak Mukesh Agrawal and Mahanagar Sanghchalak Khajulal Chauhan were also present.

He remarked that there is no other country in the world with two names, whereas India’s Constitution states, “India, that is Bharat.” He said that the country has yet to decide whether it is India or Bharat, adding that Bharat represents the nation’s cultural identity. Referring to India’s neighbouring country, he said that Burma’s ancient name was Brahma Desh, which the British changed to Burma, but after independence the country restored its name to Myanmar.

He further said that the ‘Swa’ in Swaraj, Swatantrata and Swadeshi during the freedom movement represents Bharat’s own identity, and that the foundation of this ‘Swa’ is Bharat’s spirituality, which binds everyone together. He said that this spirituality served as the inspiration for the freedom movement.

Dr Vaidya said that Vande Mataram is now sung in its entirety and reflects the complete personality of Bharat. Recalling the events of 1905, he said that when the British proposed the partition of Bengal, the entire province united in opposition, with both Hindus and Muslims raising the slogan of Vande Mataram. Although Raksha Bandhan is traditionally celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Shravan, he noted that it was observed on October 16, 1905, as a symbol of unity against the partition of Bengal.

People tied sacred threads to one another while chanting Vande Mataram and resolved not to allow the partition. He said that the British, fearing the growing movement, imposed a ban on the public singing of Vande Mataram. Ultimately, in 1911, the British withdrew the proposal to partition Bengal. Thereafter, Vande Mataram became the rallying cry of revolutionaries, and many freedom fighters embraced the gallows with the chant of Vande Mataram.

Dr Manmohan Vaidya also said that while much emphasis is placed on the rights provided by the Constitution, little attention is given to duties. He said that during its centenary year, the RSS seeks to bring about social transformation through Panch Parivartan, and that citizens should remain conscious of their duties along with their rights.

Dr Anil Samaria said that Bharat today possesses the largest youth population in the world. If the youth receive the right direction, values and proper guidance, no force in the world can prevent India from becoming a Vishwaguru. He said that the upliftment of a nation is not achieved merely through economic progress and technological development, but through the noble character, sense of duty, patriotism, service and innovation of its youth. He added that today’s youth should become job creators rather than job seekers, capable of finding solutions to problems and providing new direction to society.

At the conclusion of the programme, Ajaymeru Mahanagar Sanghchalak Khajulal Chauhan expressed gratitude to all the doctors and students present. The programme was conducted by Dr. Vijay Pal.
