NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened the online application process for the Rashtriya Military School Common Entrance Test (RMS CET) 2026 from September 23, 2026 on its official website, exams.nta.nic.in/RMSCET . Parents looking to enrol their children in Rashtriya Military Schools can now apply for the RMS CET 2026. The entrance test will be conducted for admission to Class 6 and Class 9 for the academic session 2027-28. The RMS CET 2026 examination is scheduled to be held on December 13, 2026. As per the paper pattern, CET written examination for Class VI and IX will be through Optical Mark Reader (OMR) based examination. The question paper will be bilingual (English and Hindi) for Class VI and only in English for Class IX.

Eligibility Criteria for RMS CET 2026
Parents should carefully check the official RMS CET 2026 notification before submitting the application, particularly for age, educational qualification and other admission-related requirements. Minimum basic criteria to fill the application form of RMS CET 2026 is as follows-
- For Class 6 admission, candidates should be between 10 and 13 years of age as on March 31, 2027. The applicable date of birth range is April 1, 2014, to March 31, 2017, both dates inclusive.
- For Class 9 admission, candidates should be between 13 and 16 years of age as on March 31, 2027. Candidates must also meet the other eligibility requirements mentioned in the official notification.
RMS CET 2026 Application Fee
As per the official notification released by NTA, The application fee of RMS CET 2026 varies according to the candidate’s category. The fee can be paid online through the designated payment gateway using a credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI.
General, OBC and OBC-NCL: Rs 1,000
SC, ST and wards of Armed Forces personnel killed in action (KIA): Rs 750
How to apply for RMS CET 2026?
Students and parents can complete the RMS CET 2026 registration through the official NTA RMS CET portal. The basic application process involves:
- Visiting the official RMS CET website
- Selecting the RMS CET 2026 Online Application link
- Completing registration with the required details
- Filling in the application form
- Uploading the required documents
- Paying the examination fee
- Submitting the application
- Downloading and saving the confirmation page for future reference.

Exam Pattern of RMS CET 2026
The RMS CET 2026 written exam will be conducted in OMR mode and will be held for admission to Classes VI and IX. For Class VI, the paper will have English, Intelligence Test, Mathematics, and General Knowledge & Current Affairs, with 50 questions and 50 marks in each subject. English requires a minimum of 35 per cent, while the other three subjects require 40 per cent. For Class IX, the exam will have two papers covering English, Hindi, Social Science, Mathematics and Science, with a total duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The Class VI paper will be bilingual (Hindi and English), while the Class IX paper will be in English.

Applications for the Rashtriya Military Schools Common Entrance Test 2026 are open from 23 September to 20 October 2026.
The examination is scheduled for 13 December 2026.

What are Rashtriya Military Schools?
Rashtriya Military Schools are English-medium residential public schools functioning under the Ministry of Defence. They provide education from Classes 6 to 12 and admit students to Classes 6 and 9 through the Common Entrance Test. There are currently five Rashtriya Military Schools in the country:
- RMS Chail – Himachal Pradesh
- RMS Ajmer – Rajasthan
- RMS Dholpur – Rajasthan
- RMS Belgaum – Karnataka
- RMS Bengaluru – Karnataka
These schools are residential, so selected students live and study on campus. They are open to children of both defence personnel and civilians.
RMS CET 2026 Exam: What Happens After the Written Test?
The RMS CET 2026 written exam is the first stage of the admission process. NTA will manage the application process, conduct the Stage-I exam, evaluate the papers and announce the results. Students who qualify will have to go through the next stages, including the medical examination, interview and final selection/merit process conducted by the Rashtriya Military Schools and concerned authorities. Only after completing all the required stages will candidates be considered for final admission.
