RSS Sarsangchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat visited the Kanchi Acharyas at Orikkai and participated in Vedic rituals
ORIKKAI: RSS Sarsangchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat on September 23, 2026, visited Pujya Kanchi Acharyas at Orikkai. He was honoured with a ceremonial headgear and presented with prasadam from Sri Kamakshi Ambal Devasthanam, accompanied by Vedic chanting led by senior scholars.
Dr Bhagwat had darshan of the abhishekam performed for Sri Chandramouleeshwara Swamy by Jagadguru Sri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. He later participated in Vedic chanting, japa and special prayers conducted by Vedic scholars for the welfare of society, the nation and the world.
Special worship was offered to the divine padukas of Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya, accompanied by the recitation of the Totakashtakam.
Highlighting the importance of family and dharmic values, a traditional Dampati Puja was performed, during which 60 elderly couples were honoured by an octogenarian couple who had completed 60 years of married life.
Dr Mohan Bhagwat also witnessed the purnahuti of the Shrauta ritual Sangrahaniyeshti, conducted with prayers for peace, prosperity and happiness for people across the world. He also witnessed Shri Kanchi Math’s initiatives in the fields of Vidya, Veda and Vaidya, including schools, Veda Pathashalas, traditional crafts and sculpture training centres, and institutions providing cultural education for girls.
He attended the certificate distribution ceremony for the first batch of students who completed the Charity Management course conducted with the blessings of Pujya Shankaracharya Swami Ji.
Later, Dr Bhagwat visited the century-old house in Orikkai where the second Sarsangchalak of the RSS, Guruji MS Golwalkar, had darshan of Pujya Kanchi Mahaswami in 1955. The family presented him with a memento commemorating the historic visit. The Kanchi Acharya Triveni had also performed Chaturmasyam at the same house in 1988.
