Rajasthan: Every good initiative initially faces opposition and difficulties, but success is achieved after overcoming these obstacles. There is a need to bring about social change gradually, said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sah-Sarkaryawah Alok Kumar while addressing the concluding session of the three-day Prant-level workshop on “Prabhat Gram”, organised by the Chittor Prant in Basera on September 21, 2026.
Alok Kumar said that coordination between modern technology and labour is essential for the development of villages. The best technical experts from villages should be recognised and honoured. The Gram Vikas Samiti should have information about all government schemes so that the benefits of these schemes can reach those in need. Benefits of schemes such as disability and old-age pensions can also be extended to eligible people through the development committee.
He particularly emphasised increasing women’s participation in village development committees and said that any work involving women’s participation progresses rapidly. Active participation of women can give new momentum to village development.
Calling upon farmers to promote organic farming, Alok Kumar said that inspiration for organic farming should begin within one’s own family. There is a need to gradually reduce the use of chemicals and move towards non-chemical and organic farming.
He said that in ancient times, India was self-reliant and had a village-based economy. Many goods were produced in villages and were also exported. Over time, the village economy changed and urbanisation was promoted.
“Now, instead of taking villages back to the old era, there is a need to develop modern, self-reliant and well-equipped villages,” he said.
Under the RSS’ Prabhat Gram initiative, villages work continuously with society through committees on seven dimensions: social education and values, social health, social harmony, social self-reliance, social security, cow-based organic farming and environmental protection.
When effective work is carried out on four of these seven dimensions over several years and the village develops into an ideal village, it is declared a Prabhat Gram after continuous assessment by the provincial team.
A total of 205 workers, including men and women, from 30 Prabhat Grams participated in the workshop. All participants stayed with families in the villages during the workshop.
