NEW DELHI: Students at Shri Nishulk Gurukul Mahavidyalaya in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, are now getting access to modern technology through a new computer laboratory set up with support from the Adani Foundation. The aim is to bring digital learning opportunities to students who are studying in a traditional Gurukul environment while retaining the institution’s focus on India’s knowledge and cultural heritage. Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani highlighted the initiative saying that it was heartening to see students of the Ayodhya Gurukul connecting with technology through the modern computer lab. He said that being able to fulfil a small wish of the students was a matter of happiness.

What is the Ayodhya Gurukul computer lab initiative?

The Adani Foundation computer lab at Shri Nishulk Gurukul Mahavidyalaya aims to introduce the students to computers and digital learning while they continue to study through the Gurukul system. Students were seen using computers in a video shared by Gautam Adani on social media. The institution is Shri Nishulk Gurukul Mahavidyalaya and it is recognised by Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi. The institution is located in Ayodhya and follows a traditional educational approach.

The addition of a computer lab is significant because access to digital tools can expand the learning opportunities available to students. Computer education can help students in developing basic digital skills and become familiar with online learning resources, educational software and other technology-based learning methods.

Through this initiative traditional Gurukul students can experience both modern technology and traditional education, which bridges the two systems together.

Connecting India’s knowledge tradition with the digital age

Gautam Adani visited the Gurukul on April 2, 2026. According to an Adani Group publication, Adani visited Shri Nishulk Gurukul Mahavidyalaya and announced support for an AI-enabled laboratory to help them in preserving the Gurukul tradition while preparing students for an increasingly technology-driven future. The institution, founded in 1935, provides free education to nearly 200 students and follows a traditional Gurukul system.

The initiative is more than just the addition of a computer laboratory. It aims to connect Gurukul education, Sanskrit and India’s traditional knowledge systems with digital education, computer literacy and modern technology. By bringing these two approaches together, the initiative seeks to give students new learning opportunities while keeping them connected to their cultural and educational roots.
