ICA connects Indian diaspora with social initiatives in Bharat
Indians for Collective Action (ICA) is an organisation that brings together Indians living in the United States and facilitates support for various social organisations working in Bharat. Shivganga recently became associated with ICA, and following the collaboration, representatives of the organisation were invited to participate in ICA’s annual programme in California.
The exhibition provided an opportunity to introduce the work being carried out in Jhabua to a wider international audience and explain how community participation has contributed to sustainable development in the region.
The initiative helped connect people living thousands of kilometres away with the grassroots work being undertaken in Jhabua. Through the exhibition, visitors were able to learn about the community-driven approach adopted by Shivganga and the broader people’s movement for sustainable development.
The presentation also helped generate interest among members of the diaspora in establishing a closer association with Jhabua and witnessing the development initiatives directly.
The response to the exhibition reflected growing curiosity among members of the Indian diaspora about grassroots development initiatives in Bharat. The interest shown by attendees in visiting Jhabua could further strengthen connections between the diaspora and community-led initiatives in the region.
Through such platforms, Shivganga’s work in Jhabua is reaching audiences beyond Bharat, offering an opportunity to highlight the role of local communities and collective action in driving long-term development.
