New Delhi – The Central Sanskrit University (CSU) has once again secured a place among India’s leading government universities in the India Today MDRA Best Universities Ranking 2026. CSU has been ranked 23rd among the Top General (Government) Universities in India, which reaffirms its growing presence in the country’s higher education landscape. According to the 2026 ranking, CSU has improved its position from 24th in 2025 to 23rd in 2026. Among the top General Government universities featured from Delhi, CSU secured the fourth position, highlighting its growing academic presence alongside some of India’s prominent central and state institutions.

CSU ranks fourth among Delhi universities

The ranking also places the Central Sanskrit University fourth among the General Government universities in Delhi featured in the list. The Delhi rankings include the University of Delhi at Rank 1, Jawaharlal Nehru University at Rank 2, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University at Rank 5 and Central Sanskrit University at Rank 23 in the overall India ranking. With this performance, Central Sanskrit University (CSU) has maintained its position among the prominent government universities in the national capital and has further strengthened its academic identity.

Sanskrit education meets technology and innovation

This recognition is important not only for Central Sanskrit University (CSU) but also for Sanskrit and Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS). CSU is currently working to make Sanskrit education more relevant by linking it with research, technology, AI, data science, innovation and skill-based learning. Along with preserving India’s rich linguistic and intellectual heritage, institutions such as CSU are exploring ways to make Sanskrit and the Indian knowledge tradition relevant to the needs of the 21st century.

Central Sanskrit University (CSU) has introduced an AICTE-approved BTech programme in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at its Nashik campus which brings together technology education and India’s knowledge heritage. The improvement in the India Today-MDRA University Ranking 2026 is a good recognition of the collective efforts of the university’s faculty members, researchers, students, officers and staff.

The latest ranking is therefore more than a numerical achievement for Central Sanskrit University (CSU). It shows how Indian higher education is changing, with Sanskrit and Indian traditions being combined with technology, AI, research and new ideas.
