Hyderabad: The enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana has been completed, with 2,64,87,214 enumeration forms, or 78.30 per cent of the total electorate, digitised, according to the status report issued by the Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana.
The report said Telangana has 3,38,26,448 total electors covered under the SIR exercise. Of these, enumeration forms covering 73,39,234 electors, or 21.70 per cent, were classified as uncollectable.
The uncollectable forms have been categorised as follows:
Death: 9,22,230
Absent/Untraceable: 11,25,546
Permanently shifted: 45,18,961
Already enrolled: 6,70,203
Others: 1,02,294
The largest category among the uncollectable forms is permanently shifted electors, accounting for 45,18,961 cases.
The completion of the enumeration phase now paves the way for the next stages of the SIR process. As per the revised schedule issued by the Election Commission of India, house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were conducted from June 25 to August 10, while rationalisation and re-arrangement of polling stations is scheduled to be completed by August 10.
The draft electoral roll will be published on August 17, following which electors will have an opportunity to file claims and objections from August 17 to September 16.
The notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will continue from August 17 to October 15.
The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 19, 2026.
The Telangana CEO’s report, therefore, provides the first consolidated picture of the outcome of the enumeration phase, with more than 2.64 crore forms digitised and 73.39 lakh forms classified as uncollectable. The final impact of the SIR exercise on the State’s electoral roll will be known only after the completion of the claims-and-objections process and publication of the final roll on October 19.
