Commuters in Delhi may face traffic restrictions, diversions and delays on Sunday, October 11, as the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory covering 30 key intersections and road stretches across the national capital. The restrictions may come into force from 6 am, depending on the prevailing law-and-order situation, with commuters advised to plan their journeys accordingly

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for Sunday, October 11, warning commuters of possible restrictions, diversions and delays at several key locations across the national capital.

According to the advisory, traffic movement may be affected from 6 am onwards, depending on the situation on the ground. The advisory covers 30 intersections and road stretches, particularly across Central Delhi, New Delhi and areas surrounding Connaught Place.

The traffic restrictions come amid heightened security arrangements in the national capital following protests linked to electoral roll revisions and demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) had called for a demonstration at Jantar Mantar on October 11, seeking Kumar’s resignation and opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Security arrangements and protest-related restrictions had already affected traffic movement in parts of Central Delhi on Saturday.

With the possibility of further restrictions on Sunday, the Traffic Police has advised commuters to remain alert, account for additional travel time and plan their routes in advance.

Delhi Traffic Advisory: 30 Locations Where Movement May Be Affected

The Delhi Traffic Police has identified the following locations where traffic movement may be affected depending on the law-and-order situation:

Roundabout Panchkuian
Roundabout Mandi House

Minto Road–Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg
Guru Nanak Chowk
Chemsford Road–Outer Circle, Connaught Place T-Point
Bharion Road–MGM (Ring Road) T-Point
Lodhi Road Flyover
Roundabout Neela Gumbad
Madarsa T-Point
Roundabout Samrat Hotel
Sardar Patel Marg–Panchsheel Marg Crossing
Under Bhikaji Cama Place

Commuters Advised to Plan Ahead

The advisory is particularly relevant for people travelling through Central Delhi, Connaught Place, Jantar Mantar, Sansad Marg, Ashoka Road, Janpath, Patel Chowk, Rail Bhawan, Mandi House and major Ring Road corridors.

Since the restrictions are dependent on the prevailing law-and-order situation, the extent and duration of traffic curbs may vary. Commuters travelling through the identified areas are therefore advised to leave early and remain prepared for diversions or slower traffic.
