NEW DELHI: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has welcomed the Government of India’s decision to constitute a multidisciplinary High-Level Task Force to undertake comprehensive reforms in the National Testing Agency (NTA). Following the irregularities witnessed in various competitive examinations, including NEET-UG, ABVP has consistently demanded institutional reforms to ensure greater transparency, accountability, and credibility in the country’s examination system. As part of this sustained campaign, ABVP had strongly advocated the constitution of a high-level committee to comprehensively review the competitive examination framework and recommend time-bound, structural reforms. The formation of the High-Level Task Force is, therefore, a significant and welcome decision in the interest of students.
ABVP believes that restoring confidence in the examination system requires much more than stringent action against those responsible for malpractice. It calls for comprehensive institutional, structural, technological, and administrative reforms, backed by effective implementation. In recent months, the establishment of Fast Track Courts to curb the examination mafia, administrative reforms, initiatives for stronger legislative provisions, and now the constitution of a High-Level Task Force under the chairmanship of technology expert and Infosys Co-founder Shri Nandan Nilekani together represent important steps towards strengthening the examination ecosystem.
The Task Force comprises eminent experts, including former ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Somanath, former Intelligence Bureau Director Shri Tapan Deka, Director of IIT Madras Prof. V. Kamakoti, former Education Secretary Smt. Anita Karwal, and logistics expert Shri Amrit Lal Meena. ABVP expects the Task Force to submit its recommendations within the stipulated timeframe and facilitate concrete reforms to make the examination system more transparent, secure, accountable, technology-driven, and student-centric.
ABVP National General Secretary Dr Virendra Singh Solanki said that, “Every student in the country appears for an examination with the confidence that their hard work will be evaluated through a fair, transparent, and credible system. Safeguarding the integrity of the examination process is, therefore, a collective responsibility. The constitution of a High-Level Task Force for comprehensive reforms in the National Testing Agency is a significant initiative in the interest of students. ABVP has consistently advocated transparency, accountability, and institutional reforms in the examination system. We are confident that the Task Force will submit timely and effective recommendations that will play a pivotal role in making the examination process more credible, secure, technology-driven, and student-centric.
