The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has welcomed the Government of India’s decisive action against the exam mafia, describing the formation of Fast Track Courts, key administrative changes and the Prime Minister’s assurance of strict action and examination integrity as vital and timely steps towards restoring transparency, credibility and trust in the country’s examination system.
The student organisation also welcomed Sonam Wangchuk’s decision to conclude his 26-day hunger strike following the Government’s assurances, calling it a positive move towards dialogue and resolution. ABVP wished Wangchuk good health and a speedy recovery.
ABVP said it has consistently demanded comprehensive structural and institutional reforms to prevent grave issues like paper leaks and to restore transparency and accountability in the examination process.
Key measures such as establishing Fast Track Courts for swift action against the exam mafia, undertaking administrative overhauls to build trust, and the Honorable Prime Minister’s public assurance of Cabinet-level policy changes and stricter laws are vital steps aligned with present needs.
While these decisions will yield positive, far-reaching outcomes, ABVP now expects the Government of India to build on this momentum. Specifically, the Government should form a High-Level Committee to deliver time-bound recommendations that will render the examination system truly transparent, accountable, and student-centric.
ABVP’s national general secretary Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki stated, “The establishment of Fast Track Courts, administrative restructuring, and the Prime Minister’s firm commitment to safeguard exam integrity are crucial and timely interventions.
In light of these developments, Mr. Sonam Wangchuk ending his hunger strike is a positive step toward dialogue and resolution in the best interest of students. Going forward, these measures must be sustained through deeper structural reforms. A High-Level Committee should be formed as per ABVP’s demand to implement necessary reforms in a time-bound manner, ensuring a transparent, credible, and accountable examination system for every student in the nation,” he added.
