New Delhi – Amid the ongoing debate surrounding the NEET (UG) 2026 results, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a detailed clarification on five viral claims which are related to the OMR answer sheets of students. NTA said that in every case, the images which are circulating on social media had been digitally manipulated, while the original OMR sheets stored in its system remained unchanged. The NTA issued the clarification after several screenshots of OMR sheets went viral on social media. It said the images had been edited using AI and other software, but the original OMR sheets in its records were not changed.

What Did the NTA Find?

The NTA responded to the five viral claims that involve different NEET (UG) 2026 candidates and said all the allegations were based on digitally edited OMR sheets or records.

Arya Singh claimed that her OMR sheet had been altered. The NTA said the viral image had been digitally edited, including changing one invigilator’s signature time from 3:45 PM on the original OMR sheet to 2:45 PM. It also said there were several other signs of digital editing on the fake OMR sheet. According to the NTA, the original OMR sheet is authentic and her score of 167 marks remains correct.

Regarding claims by Ms. Arya Singh (App No. 260410434102) about her NEET (UG) 2026 OMR answer sheet:

NTA has verified the record.

After checking its original records, the NTA said all five candidates had received the correct marks. It added that the OMR sheets circulating on social media had been digitally edited.

The NTA has warned students and parents not to create, submit, or share fake or edited OMR answer sheets. It said that doing so is a criminal offence under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. People who make or circulate fake OMR sheets can also face legal action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Information Technology Act, 2000. It advised candidates to trust only the official OMR sheets and records released by the agency and not share edited or unverified documents online.

Through these clarifications, the NTA said it wants to assure students that every complaint is checked using the original exam records and not the edited images shared online.
