The three-day international seminar was held from July 15-17, 2026, preceded by a one-day pre-conference workshop on July 14, on the auspicious occasion of Sushruta Jayanti.

Vd. Maneesha Kothekar, Chairperson, National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), and Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, South Delhi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guests. During the valedictory session, the dignitaries felicitated the international resource persons in recognition of their valuable contributions to the seminar.

Congratulating the organising team, Vd. Maneesha Kothekar, Chairperson, NCISM, said, “Seminars like Saushrutam should be organised on a regular basis as they provide greater exposure to students. Such successful initiatives are helping society recognise Ayurvedacharyas as doctors as well as surgeons.” She further assured that the Commission stands firmly with those who are fighting legal battles for Ayurveda.
During the programme, the All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi, extended its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Delhi for another five years. The occasion also witnessed the release of the third edition of Ayushvallari, the annual Hindi magazine of the Rajbhasha Department of AIIA. The book Neetra Rogya: Samanya Jankari aur Niwaran was also released. The publication is a simple yet meaningful initiative aimed at raising public awareness about eye diseases, dispelling misconceptions, and disseminating accurate scientific information in an easy-to-understand language. A Souvenir of Saushrutam 2026 was also released by the dignitaries.

Highlighting the vision behind SAUSHRUTAM 2026, Prof. (Vd.) P.K. Prajapati, Director, AIIA, said that the seminar had been conceived as a global platform to foster scientific dialogue, facilitate the exchange of evidence-based surgical practices, showcase emerging technological innovations, and celebrate the enduring surgical legacy of Acharya Sushruta. He further noted that the initiative was intended to strengthen academic collaboration between Ayurveda and modern surgical sciences while promoting research, innovation, and excellence in surgical education.

Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Badwe, Organising Chairman, said, “We are committed to improving the quality of surgical practices in Ayurveda and strengthening the Ayurveda fraternity. International seminars like Saushrutam are important steps towards achieving excellence in Ayurvedic surgery.”

The seminar witnessed the participation of renowned academicians and surgeons from Thailand, Israel, Austria, the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, Greece, and India, who shared their expertise and experiences. More than 30 eminent national experts, including Padma Shri Prof. M. Sahu and Padma Shri Prof. K.K. Thakral, along with distinguished faculty from premier institutions such as AIIA, IMS-BHU, NIA Jaipur, ITRA Jamnagar, and other leading surgical centres across the country, participated in the seminar. Eminent modern surgical experts from AIIMS, SGPGI Lucknow, GMC Agartala, and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, also contributed, fostering a multidisciplinary exchange between Ayurveda and contemporary surgical sciences.

The event was also graced by Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Vyas, Dean (Ph.D.); Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Yadav, Dean (PG); Dr. Vyasadeva Mahanta, Organising Secretary; and other senior faculty members of AIIA.
