Imphal: Security forces are conducting joint combat operations against militant groups in both valley and hill districts in Manipur. During the period of June 21 to June 27 2026, Indian Army and Assam Rifles formations under Spear Corps, in close coordination with Manipur Police and Central Security Forces, conducted a series of intelligence-based joint operations across Kangpokpi, Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Kakching districts. The operations led to the apprehension of six cadres belonging to various proscribed outfits and the recovery of arms, ammunition, explosives and other war-like stores.
On June 24 and June 26, Assam Rifles, in joint operations with Manipur Police and a CRPF Battalion, unearthed a major cache of arms, ammunition, and war-like stores from the general areas of Loiching Ridge, Maohing, and North Changoubung in Kangpokpi District. The successful seizures comprised two rifles, one carbine machine gun, one rifle, 42 country-made rifles, multiple pistols, improvised mortars, pumps, and one under-barrel grenade launcher. The search columns also recovered a significant quantity of ammunition, explosives, and equipment, including multiple grenades, over 250 rounds of ammunition, and communication equipment.
During the same operational window, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched massive intelligence-led joint operations across Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, and Kakching districts. The crackdown resulted in the intercept and apprehension of six active cadres from the proscribed outfits SOREPA, KCP(N), KYKL, and RPF(PLA), including a self-styled Captain. Security forces also executed a major weapon recovery during these targeted operations, seizing one pistol, 97 rounds of mixed ammunition, gunpowder, and an unregistered vehicle.
Naga People’s Organisation (NPO), Tribes Hohos, Senapati District Women Association and Senapati District Student Association have decided to intensify their agitation over the murder of six Naga men by KNF-P Kuki militants. The organisations formed a Supervisor Committee to strengthen the ongoing agitation against the killings of the innocent Naga civilians by Kuki militants. The agitation shall continue until justice is delivered for our six Naga brothers, who were kidnapped at Leilon Vaiphei by Narco-Terrorist Kuki Refugees under the leadership of Lalboy Vaiphei, the Village Chief, later handed over to KNF-P armed militants and later brutally murdered and their bodies dismembered in an act of unimaginable cruelty.
