Florida has witnessed a series of incidents involving extremist violence and debates over religiously exclusive economic networks

FacebookTwitterWhatsAppTelegramEmail

Between 2020 and 2026, Florida became a central battleground for tracking and pushback against religious-driven economic strategies, frequently referred to by critics as “Economic Jihad,” alongside other mazhabi (religious) activities. During this period, concerned citizens, grassroots organisations, and state policymakers increasingly sounded the alarm over foreign and domestic funding funnelled into real estate, parallel financial systems like Sharia-compliant banking, and community institutions. Critics argue that these coordinated efforts go beyond simple religious practice, representing a deliberate push to establish autonomous cultural and economic enclaves that bypass traditional American legal and financial frameworks.

A viral social media video featuring “GoMarhaba,” an app designed for Muslims in Florida, has sparked widespread online debate recently. The footage shows individuals urging the Muslim community to purchase exclusively through the GoMarhaba platform and website (gomarhaba.com) while actively boycotting non-Muslim businesses. In response, numerous social media users have highlighted the video as a concrete example of what they label “economic jihad” in the state.

This report exposes a deeply concerning surge in faith-linked extremism, terrorism, and violent crime across Florida. This trend underscores a growing threat to public safety, as co-ordinated religious agendas increasingly drive both lawlessness and dangerous economic segregation within our communities.

GoMarhaba App Exposed: Launching a Parallel Islamic Economy in Florida

Florida has effectively become ground zero for a calculated economic power play with the launch of “GoMarhaba,” an app and website explicitly designed to create a closed-loop, Muslim-only marketplace. Rather than acting as a standard business directory, the platform openly pressures consumers to completely redirect their spending away from non-Muslim establishments to trap wealth entirely within the ummah (the global Muslim community). Founded by Hiba Rahim, a high-ranking official within CAIR-Florida, an organisation heavily criticised for its historical ties to radical networks, and aggressively promoted by controversial figures like Hassan Shibly and Imam Tom Facchine, this platform represents a deliberate effort to establish an autonomous financial enclave that renders traditional American businesses economically irrelevant.

Halal Hub Marketplace: Deepening Religious Economic Consolidation

The rapid growth of the Halal Hub Marketplace, which held its 11th community gathering at the Islamic Foundation of South Florida (IFSF) in Sunrise, highlights a broader and more aggressive push toward religious economic segregation. Under the guise of cultural celebration and small business support, these massive gatherings function as institutional tools to consolidate financial power exclusively within faith-biased networks. Driven by established hubs like the IFSF, which has anchored regional Islamic activities for decades, these events ensure that capital is systematically funnelled into segregated commerce, undermining the unified, free-market principles of the local Florida economy.

South Florida Muslim Conference: Building Financial Walls

The South Florida Muslim Federation has increasingly used large-scale events, such as its recent regional conference, to construct an insulated, self-sustaining economic infrastructure for the state’s estimated 200,000 Muslims. Far from serving purely spiritual needs, the gathering operated as an exclusive networking clearinghouse for entrepreneurs, activists, and leaders to lock down corporate ties and maximise insular financial support. Critics view this systematic weaponisation of purchasing power as an overt attempt to build parallel economic institutions that weaken broader civic cohesion and community integration.

‘Halal Tourism’ Carves Out Segregated Pockets in Orlando

The aggressive push for religious exceptionalism has expanded deep into Florida’s premier tourism sectors, with Orlando businesses increasingly implementing “halal tourism” frameworks that promote cultural and physical segregation. From vacation rentals offering heavily curtained, hidden pool decks to accommodate gender-segregated layouts, to specialised mobile apps mapping out exclusive faith-compliant tracks, the hospitality industry is rapidly adjusting to insular demands. This expanding market trend represents a fundamental shift away from assimilation, intentionally dividing recreational spaces along strict religious lines.

Horror in Kissimmee: Cold-Blooded Slaughter of Tourists by Local Extremist

Public safety concerns regarding radical elements in the state reached a tragic flashpoint following the unprovoked, cold-blooded execution of three innocent tourists outside a rental property in Kissimmee. The suspect, Ahmad Jihad Bojeh, unleashed a random and fatal firearm attack on the visitors, who were simply in town for a local car show and waiting for roadside assistance. This horrific violence has intensified fierce criticism against soft-on-crime legal loopholes and administrative failures, particularly after revelations emerged that Bojeh had been previously arrested for firing a weapon at a gas station but was released back into the community via a controversial insanity acquittal.

Kissimmee ISIS Sympathiser Sentenced After Pledging Allegiance to Terror Group

The dangerous infiltration of radical ideologies into local communities was laid bare when 23-year-old Kissimmee resident Moad Mohamed Benkabbou was sentenced to six years in federal prison. Court records revealed that Benkabbou had actively communicated with global ISIS supporters online before formally pledging bay’ah (allegiance) to the horrific terrorist organisation. Despite his attempts to deceive federal investigators during the subsequent counterterrorism probe, his guilty plea to making false statements highlights the persistent threat of homegrown radicalisation festering quietly within Florida’s borders.

The Florida Roots of 9/11 Mastermind Mohammed Atta Highlighted in Historical Archive

The catastrophic legacy of Islamic terrorism on American soil remains permanently tied to Florida, where 9/11 lead hijacker Mohammed Atta received the crucial flight training used to murder thousands of innocent citizens. Atta, an Egyptian al-Qaeda operative with an advanced background in architecture, weaponised America’s open aviation systems before steering American Airlines Flight 11 directly into the North Tower of the World Trade Centre. The deep history of this security failure was thrust back into focus as the TSA systematically archived the original screening equipment from the Portland airport, where Atta easily bypassed security, serving as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of lax domestic defence systems.

FBI Neutralises ISIS-Inspired Terror Plot and Family Assault in Tampa Bay

A catastrophic mass-casualty plot was narrowly averted in the Tampa Bay area when federal agents arrested Muhammed Momtaz Al-Azhari, an individual who spent years in the Middle East before returning to the United States to plan a coordinated terrorist attack. Al-Azhari had already acquired firearms and silencers while actively scouting heavily populated local targets to maximise carnage in the name of ISIS. The radicalisation extended deep into his family network, as demonstrated just days later when his sister, Heba Al-Azhari, launched a violent, unprovoked blade attack against a Temple Terrace police officer before being rightfully neutralised by law enforcement.

Saudi Military Trainee Launches Deadly Jihadist Assault at Pensacola Naval Base

The fatal vulnerabilities of foreign vetting processes were exposed when Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani, a Royal Saudi Air Force lieutenant permitted into America for flight training, opened fire inside a classroom building at Naval Air Station Pensacola. Driven by radical anti-American sentiment, the Saudi national used a handgun to murder three courageous US Navy sailors-Joshua Kaleb Watson, Mohammed Sameh Haitham, and Cameron Scott Walters-and wound eight others before responding officers eliminated the threat. The horrific breach of trust inside a secure military installation fuelled intense demands for stricter national security oversight and an immediate end to unverified foreign military placement programs.

The Pulse Nightclub Massacre: Orlando targeted in the Deadliest Terrorist Attack Since 9/11

Florida suffered the deadliest radical Islamic terror attack on American soil since September 11 when Omar Mir Seddique Mateen, a US-born citizen of Afghan descent who pledged allegiance to ISIS, stormed the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. Equipped with an assault rifle, Mateen systematically slaughtered 49 innocent individuals and wounded 53 others by gunfire during a horrific three-hour siege before being shot dead by a SWAT team. This brutal act of jihadist violence against American citizens shattered families and forever marked the state as a prime target for radical ideological warfare aimed at the heart of the nation.

Egyptian Imam Convicted of Child Molestation and Ordered Deported from Tampa Mosque

The sanctity of local communities was violated when Egyptian imam Yasser Mohamed Shahade pleaded guilty to the lewd and lascivious molestation of a 13-year-old boy inside a Tampa Mosque. The foreign religious leader used his position of spiritual authority to exploit a vulnerable minor, resulting in a conviction that carried ten years of probation and a permanent sexual offender designation. This disturbing case of predatory behaviour within a religious institution reinforced strong demands for absolute transparency, rigid local vetting, and the swift deportation of foreign criminals who threaten the safety of American children.

When viewed together, these disturbing developments present a clear and urgent warning: Florida’s security, economic freedom, and foundational values are under direct assault from coordinated religious extremism. From the calculated establishment of closed-loop marketplaces like GoMarhaba designed to financially isolate non-Muslims, to the horrifying reality of homegrown ISIS sympathisers, foreign military infiltrators, and brutal mass casualties on our soil, the threat is multifaceted and expanding. These incidents demonstrate that catering to cultural separatism and parallel financial systems creates a dangerous breeding ground for radicalisation, subversion, and violent crime. Protecting the Sunshine State requires unwavering vigilance, uncompromising law enforcement, and a fierce refusal to allow foreign ideologies to compromise the safety, legal sovereignty, and constitutional liberties of American citizens.
