AYODHYA: In a statement that drew sharp criticism from several quarters, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on June 7 said that reports have emerged claiming that crores of rupees from donations offered at the Ram Temple were missing and urged the court to take cognisance of the matter.
Reacting to the allegations, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai informed that internal audits are underway, and nothing has emerged from them so far.
“The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra undergoes internal audits from time to time.
Representatives of the trust and the State Bank of India are involved in this exercise. The audit process lasts for several days. The same work is being carried out these days. Nothing noteworthy has come to light yet,” he said in a statement.
Reacting to this, BJP MP Dinesh Sharma said, “Why do misconceptions arise only about Bhagwan Ram and matters related to him? I believe that the statement of the trustee of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Champat Rai, has already clarified the issue. People should avoid making allegations that could defame a religious institution without first verifying the facts. No one should make accusations about a place of faith without knowing the truth…”
