‘We Wanted Him to Serve the Nation, Not Get Caught in Political Drama’: Parents Rebuke Abhijit Dipke
Days after Cockroach Janata Party leader Abhijit Dipke grabbed headlines over his protest activism in Delhi, his parents have publicly distanced themselves from both his political activities and the ongoing agitation.
In a strongly worded interaction with the media, Dipke’s parents said they never supported his entry into politics and had always hoped he would pursue a stable professional career instead.
Family says politics was never part of their background
As videos of Abhijit Dipke’s protest activities continue to circulate on social media, a reaction from his parents has now become a talking point online. Speaking to media persons, the family made it clear that they do not support either their son’s political journey or the agitation he is currently associated with.
According to his parents, no one in their family has ever been involved in politics. They described themselves as an ordinary family with no political ambitions and said they had envisioned a completely different future for their son.
“We wanted him to study well, become a Class-I officer and hold a respectable position in society,” they said, expressing disappointment over his decision to pursue politics instead.
Parents recall earlier opposition to his activities
Dipke’s mother revealed that this was not the first time the family had objected to his political involvement. She said Abhijit had earlier spent nearly two years associated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a move that had also been opposed by the family.
Recalling those days, she said family members repeatedly advised him against entering politics.
“We kept telling him that politics was not part of our family’s nature. We are simple people and did not want him to get involved in these matters,” she said.
Despite repeated warnings and objections from his parents, Dipke chose to continue his political activities, she added.
‘He always preferred his own decisions’
Speaking about her son’s personality, Dipke’s mother described him as an introverted individual who preferred to remain in his own world.
According to her, he rarely interacted extensively with people and generally kept to himself. Much of his time, she said, was spent on his mobile phone and personal interests rather than social interactions.
She also referred to a previous disagreement within the family regarding his decision to go abroad. According to her, the family had advised him against leaving India and had encouraged him to build a meaningful career within the country.
“I had already told him not to go abroad and instead do something worthwhile here in our own country. But he chose to go because of his own stubbornness,” she said.
Family wants him to leave politics
Abhijit Dipke’s parents reiterated that they do not support any of his current political activities. They said their only wish is for him to leave politics and return to what they described as a more conventional and productive path.
The family expressed hope that he would focus on his education and career rather than continue participating in political agitations.
According to them, they still believe he can build a respectable future for himself if he chooses to step away from politics and pursue the kind of professional life they had originally envisioned for him.
