Calling for a campaign for the liberation of temples amid rising incidents of temple protocol violations and the alleged looting of temple wealth, Swami Vivekamruthananda Puri, head of the Mata Amruthanandamayi Math, Kozhikode, inaugurated the state conference of the Kerala Kshethra Samrakshana Samiti (Kerala Temple Protection Council) at Madhavji Nagar (Sukrutindra Kalamandir), Kozhikode, on May 23.

Swamiji said that temples are the strongholds of spiritual force which protect our culture. That is why some divisive forces are keen to demolish temple culture. During the Vedic period, rakshasas attempted to destroy temples with the sole intention of demolishing our culture. In those days, rakshasas tried to disrupt Yagas and Yajnas. After temple worship came into existence, rakshasas started to train their guns on temples. We do witness it in places like Sabarimala. We cannot tolerate it any more.

Swamiji added that the wealth of temples was not only looted, but their traditional protocols were also violated. We witnessed it not only in Kerala, but also in Thiruparankundram in Tamil Nadu. Temples have been looted for a long time, thanks to the indifference of Hindu society. Now, we have to come forward to recapture what we lost. Kshethra Samrakshana Samiti holds a heavy responsibility in this regard. He called on Hindu society to wake up immediately.

Kshethra Samrakshana Samiti state president Mullappalli Krishnan Nambootiri said that there are several observances and rituals in human life after completing 50 years. Ugra Radhi Santhi at the age of 60 years is one among them. Kshethra Samrakshana Samiti has reached that point of time. Ugraradhi means one who leads Mahath Radha, meaning a great chariot. Now, the Samiti has to accomplish that mission.

Papers were presented on Kshethra Samanwayam, Devaswom activities, etc. There were Mothers’ Conference and Youth Conference sessions. Seema Jagaran Manch national Samrakshak A. Gopalakrishnan presented a paper on “Social Commitment and Views of Kshethra Samrakshana Samiti”.

Kshethra Samrakshana Samiti State general secretary K.S. Narayanan and several others participated in the programme.
