Hyderabad: The Telangana Police’s Central Analysis Team under the IT-Cell, Hyderabad City, has issued a notice to X Corp seeking action against several social media accounts over allegedly inflammatory and communal content linked to tensions in Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad. The posts related to cargo trucks that were stopped based on unverified suspicions regarding the transportation of cows or other materials.
The notice, dated May 17, 2026, was sent under Sections 69(A) and 79(3) of the Information Technology Amendment Act, 2008, along with Sections 94 and 179 of the BNSS. It was addressed to X Corp’s Safety and Legal Policy division in Bastrop, Texas.
According to the notice, the content being circulated “appears to contain inflammatory and communal narratives targeting specific communities” and may contribute to “public unrest, hatred, social disharmony, and possible mob mobilisation.” The police further stated that the material included “provocative language, divisive statements, and content capable of inciting tension between religious/community groups.”
Telangana Police cannot become a tool to silence journalists, activists, political voices, and media houses like @TheSiasatDaily & @NewsMeter_In for merely reporting or discussing communal tensions. Branding every uncomfortable post as “inflammatory” is a dangerous attack on free… pic.twitter.com/2tasTRHcFJ
