Hyderabad, April 10, 2026: Telangana has been declared a Maoist-free state by the Director General of Police following a major surrender of CPI (Maoist) cadres.

On April 10, a total of 42 Maoists, including key leaders, surrendered before the Telangana Police. They handed over arms, ammunition, and 800 grams of gold biscuits.

Officials said this marks a decisive milestone in efforts to eliminate Maoists and restore peace in the state.

With this development, the Telangana State Committee of CPI (Maoist) is said to be effectively neutralised.

The DGP, in a post on X, stated: “Telangana is now a Maoist-free state. A major step towards a safer Telangana. Today, 42 CPI (Maoist) cadres, including key leaders, have surrendered and joined the mainstream along with arms, ammunition and 800 grams gold biscuits. This marks a decisive milestone in our sustained efforts to eliminate extremism and restore peace.

With this, the Telangana State Committee of CPI (Maoist) stands effectively neutralised.

I commend the relentless efforts of our Telangana police forces, SIB teams and reaffirm our commitment to rehabilitation, peace, and development.”
