Noida: A pizza shop owner, Mujammil, has been arrested in Noida after a CCTV video allegedly showing him spitting while preparing pizza dough went viral, triggering widespread outrage among residents and social media users. The incident reportedly occurred at a food outlet named “Pizza Hunt” located in Chaura village, Sector-22.
According to media reports, the accused operates the shop under the jurisdiction of the Sector-24 police station. The video rapidly circulated online, prompting serious concerns over hygiene standards and food safety practices at local eateries.
Hindu Raksha Dal members confront the accused
Members of Hindu Raksha Dal said they were alerted to the incident and later reviewed the CCTV footage themselves. According to the group, local unit president Sonu Sharma stated that members visited the shop on Sunday, 10 May, after allegedly observing the act being repeated.
The group confronted Mujammil at the outlet and subsequently handed him over to the police. He was detained and later arrested for questioning. During interrogation, Mujammil denied deliberately spitting on the food, claiming instead that he was blowing air on the dough to remove excess flour while preparing the pizza base.
The CCTV clip, reportedly around 1 minute and 22 seconds long, continues to circulate widely on social media. The organisation has alleged that the accused can be seen repeating the act twice in the footage. Police officials said the case remains under investigation, and it is yet to be determined whether any additional charges will be filed beyond the initial arrest.
