A video showing a man dressed as a pujari being kicked and punched inside a temple is circulating on social media with the claim that he was assaulted after allegedly molesting a minor girl.
However, the claim is false. The video is from a September 2026 incident at a temple in Jaipur, Rajasthan, where the pujari was allegedly assaulted following a dispute over the volume of devotional music.
What is the viral claim?
The CCTV footage shows a youth attacking a pujari inside a temple. A woman can also be seen joining the assault.
An X user shared the video claiming that a Hindu pujari had allegedly molested a young girl inside a Hindu temple and that the girl’s father subsequently assaulted him.
The claim, however, does not accurately describe the incident shown in the footage.

Fact Check: What actually happened?
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video leads to a Bhaskar English report published on September 27, 2026. The report carried the same visuals and identified the incident as an assault on a temple pujari in Jaipur following a dispute over loud devotional music.
According to the report, the incident took place at around 7:45 pm on Friday at the Shiv Temple in Ganesh Nagar Main on Niwaru Road, Jaipur.
The report identified the pujari as Pandit Ramkrishna, who was conducting prayers when a neighbouring youth allegedly objected to the volume of devotional songs.
An argument reportedly followed. The youth then allegedly knocked the pujari to the ground and kicked and punched him. His clothes were also reportedly torn during the assault.
People present at the temple intervened and rescued the pujari. The incident was captured on the temple’s CCTV cameras.
Two people arrested
According to the report, police arrested two people, identified as Harish and Devansh, following a complaint filed by the pujari. The arrests were reportedly made on charges related to disturbing the peace.
On Sunday, people also reportedly held a protest outside the Kardhani police station, demanding action against those accused of assaulting the pujari.
A Times of India report published on September 28 also carried matching visuals and reported that the pujari had been assaulted following a dispute over loud music.
Viral video has no link to minor molestation claim
The available reports and matching visuals establish that the viral footage relates to the assault of a pujari at a Jaipur temple following a dispute over devotional music.
There is no evidence in the identified reports that the man shown in the video was assaulted because he had allegedly molested a minor.
The social media post therefore misrepresents the incident by attaching an unrelated allegation of child molestation to the footage.
