Retired DGP T.P. Senkumar IPS, former State Police Chief, stated on May 9 that the number of children taking birth in Kerala speaks about the direction Keralam is moving towards. He said this while participating in a TV programme.
Senkumar said that such a study would expose the number of children taking birth in every community. Muslims constitute 26.56% of the population of Kerala and their birth rate is 44.84 per annum, whereas Hindus constitute 54.74%, but the birth rate is 40.28.
In 1971, the then Union Minister had formulated a scheme to avoid population explosion. But Hindu and Christian communities alone implemented it. As a result, the Hindu population for the next 10 years was only 2.23% and the Christian population was 1.38%. But the Muslim population hike was 12.84%!
Senkumar said it shows that the Muslim community turned a blind eye to the population control scheme. They kept away from a national cause. And the result? Their population rose to 26.8% in 2011. When the 2027 statistics come out, more details will emerge.
The Hindu and Christian communities, which accepted and implemented the national population control scheme, contracted a lot, while the Muslim community, which ignored it, grew significantly.
When delimitation was executed in 2008, Malappuram, which had 12 Assembly constituencies, got four more. In other words, Malappuram district got 16 MLAs instead of 12. But Pathanamthitta district lost two Assembly segments.
Senkumar concluded that the districts which implemented it got fewer MLAs and those which did not got more MLAs.
The former State Police Chief’s revelation has turned into shocking news for the entire state and its people.
Critics argue that radical Muslims were clear with an agenda of overtaking Bharat on multiple fronts, while encouraging Muslim-centric politics and policies and sowing the seeds of separatism and hatred against non-Muslims.
They also allegedly play the victim card when questioned and push the narrative of majoritarian politics and persecution of Muslims.
Critics further claim that this allows their larger agenda to continue without much debate or public attention.
Population growth is one such area where, rather than abiding by the national call for population control, certain Muslims allegedly chose to defy it voluntarily and are now trying to influence politics and demography in their favour.
