In a major crackdown on the anti-national elements who pose considerable threat to the security and integrity of the country, the Delhi Police has arrested Shabbir Ahmed Lone who is a terrorist affiliated to Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT), a Pakistan based terror organisation. On March 30, Monday the Special Cell of the Delhi Police in coordination with various central agencies arrested the wanted criminal from the Delhi borders.

The LeT backed terrorist Shabbir Ahmed Lone was on the police & security radar for several days as he was the kingpin behind various terror activities conspired and targeted towards India. He is also the mastermind behind the recent Delhi metro poster case of February, 2026. He was operating from Bangladesh and was conspiring terror activities against India. Shabbir Ahmed Lone was basically a resident of Jammu & Kashmir who was operating from Bangladesh, as a handler of Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT) against India.

Shabbir Ahmed Lone was earlier arrested by the Delhi Police in 2007 on the grounds of espousing terror activities. However, after gaining bail in 2019, Shabbir Ahmed Lone fled to Bangladesh and escalated terror activities against India secretly. He has been on the Delhi anti-terrorist squad(ATS) hitlist as it was known that he had set up a sleeper cell or terror cell in Bangladesh to target India and cause threat. He was deemed as a highly radicalised operative by the Delhi Police and was arrested earlier in the day as an impact of the inter-state operation.

Shabbir Ahmed Lone was also the kingpin behind the recent Delhi metro poster case of February 2026. The Central Industrial Security Force(CISF) who were incharge of the Supreme Court Metro Station in New Delhi lodged a complaint on February 8, 2026 asserting that posters with anti-India messages and inflammatory slogans were found at multiple locations including the Janpath metro station. Some of the anti-India slogans on the posters included “India stop genocide and Free Kashmir”, “Hum Pakistan Hain and “Pakistan Kumara Hain”.

These slogans raised severe national security concerns and the Police went on a hunt to arrest the culprits. Culminating technical surveillance and the intelligence from the ground sources the Police came to know that an LeT module terror network was operating in India. In relation to the probe, the Police raided places in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. The latest arrest of Shabbir Ahmed Lone thus renders a major boost in the path of cutting down the anti-national elements operating in India.
