Varanasi: The three-day ‘Tarun Sabha-Youth Parliament’, organized under the aegis of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad(ABVP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, had a inauguration on March 28, Saturday. Dharmendra Singh, Member of the Legislative Council(MLC), Uttar Pradesh, was present as the chief guest at the opening ceremony. The event also saw the presence of ABVP State Secretary Shri Shivam Singh, State Joint Secretary Trikan, Metropolitan President Dr. Siddhartha Singh and State Organizing Secretary Abhilash.
A total of 80 elected representatives enthusiastically participated in this parliamentary exercise. The main objective of this three-day event is to practically acquaint students with the country’s parliamentary system and to develop communication, logical reasoning and leadership skills among them. Following the inauguration, the oath-taking ceremony for all the youth representatives was completed on the first day.
Chief Guest Dharmendra Singh, in his address, stated, “Events like Tarun Sabha provide an opportunity for youth to understand the basic functioning of democracy. Youth should not just be spectators but should play an active role in the process of nation-building as aware citizens. Knowledge of parliamentary traditions will lay the foundation for the powerful leadership of the future”.
ABVP State Joint Secretary Trikant, while addressing the students, said, “Self-study and the development of leadership capacity are essential parts of student life. Through this Youth Parliament, students will not only learn constitutional processes but will also develop organizational skills and the ability to make collective decisions”.
