Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, said “Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Ekatma Manava Darshana is not merely a philosophical example, but rather the foundational basis of India’s soul, culture, thought, and way of life. This ideology, which presents an integrated perspective based on Bharatiya culture, spirituality, and life values, is the life philosophy of Bharatiya culture.”
India has gained recognition on the global stage due to its great civilisation and culture. From time to time, many great personalities have incarnated in India and enriched its great tradition. The great tradition established by these great men has acted as a guiding path for society and the nation at different times. Skilled organiser, philosopher, powerful orator, economist, and worker Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, through his historic lecture series, presented the comprehensive vision of Ekatma Manava Darshana 60 years ago. It is a remarkable philosophy that explains the harmony between the individual, society, and nature, he said.
Human, composed of body, mind, intellect, and soul, pursuing the fourfold Purusharthas of Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha, and possessing the capacity to represent the integrated collective of family, society, and nation, is the central point of this philosophy.
In this vision, the development of the individual, society, nation, and the world, along with the idea of global welfare, has been expressed. According to this philosophy, society is a living entity. Just as all parts of the body function together, similarly, different sections of society come together to form an integrated system. Therefore, coordination and cooperation of all sections are essential for the development of society, he opined.
Speaking at the programme, Pujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji of Suttur Sri Kshetra said that programmes are being conducted across the country to socially and academically implement the thoughts of Deendayal Upadhyaya. As part of that, the programme being held in Mysuru is commendable. Though he lost his parents at a young age, he did not lose his enthusiasm for life and carried forward his life. In both his dreams and actions, national consciousness was awakened, he said.
For peace to prevail in the world, along with progress, equality, cooperation, and harmony with nature are essential. Deendayal’s Ekatma Manava Darshana, which integrates material progress with spiritual values, is necessary today. His concept of Antyodaya is helpful in creating value-based awareness in politics and in bringing sustainable development in villages. Today, India is the only nation that wishes for the entire world to live in peace. Deendayal Upadhyaya was the embodiment of such Bharatiya thought and values, he said.
The programme was presided over by Karnataka State Open University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sharanappa V. Halase. Prajna Pravah Karnataka South Coordinator Dr. Pradeep Bharadwaj was present on the dais.
Also present at the programme were Raghunandan, member of the Akhila Bharatiya Toli of Prajna Pravah; Prof. Naveen Kumar S.K., Registrar of Karnataka State Open University; and Dr. Binay Kumar Singh, Director of the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation, New Delhi.
Meanwhile, the Congress government in Karnataka had attempted to cancel the programme by serving a notice to the University, citing alleged protocol violations.
However, the event proceeded without any obstruction. The Karnataka High Court firmly intervened to protect the Ekatma Manava Darshana Conference, issuing a decisive stay against any attempts to cancel the event.
In a clear and categorical direction, the Court ordered the State Government not to interfere with, obstruct, or disturb the smooth conduct of the conference in any manner.
This strong judicial directive reinforces the rule of law and ensures that lawful intellectual and cultural gatherings proceed without undue hindrance, marking a significant affirmation of constitutional rights and freedom of expression.
Renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj inaugurates ‘Bharat Darshan’ exhibition
Earlier, renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj inaugurated the ‘Bharat Darshan’ exhibition of the conference.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that in a time when the world is distressed under the shadow of war, the reason we are able to remain peaceful is our tradition. It is a coincidence that Ekatma Manava Darshana is being held in Mysuru. The principle of harmony between human and nature is essential for the world today. He congratulated the organisers for striving to present this fundamental and noble thought.
Raghunandan, member of the Akhila Bharatiya Toli of Prajna Pravah, said that the Bharat Darshan exhibition presents a picture of the entire nation. It has two sections—Chiti and Virat—where Chiti represents the soul principle and Virat represents its manifestation. He said that this should be an effort to understand Bharat and pass it on to the next generation.
