An RSS shakha being conducted at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, was allegedly attacked on the evening of February 17 while students were participating, leading to complaints with police and strong reactions from ABVP and BJP Andhra Pradesh.
An ABVP leader speaking to Organiser said that, as usual, the shakha was being held at 6:30 PM; as it was coming to an end, around 20 students belonging to SFI reached the location and gave anti-RSS and communal slogans such as ‘RSS go back’, ‘VC down down’ and ‘Hindus are terrorists’ in abusive language, and then immediately indulged in an argument and physically attacked the participating students.
ABVP students soon gathered at the location and later went to the local police station and lodged a complaint, submitting details of the incident along with names of the accused and seeking strong action. The injured students were treated at KGH Hospital.
The ABVP leader suspects that this attack is a preplanned attack by SFI and AISF to divert attention from the ongoing Navy International Fleet Review 2026 at Visakhapatnam, where 72 countries are participating.
Today (February 18), ABVP Andhra Pradesh submitted a representation to university authorities, as the VC is not available, urging them to take strict action and ensure the safety of students on campus.
Reacting to the incident, Andhra Pradesh BJP President P.V.N. Madhav condemned the attack. In a post on X, he said: “Severely condemn the attack on a peaceful RSS shakha and ABVP karyakarthas by Marxist goons of SFI and AISF. They get frustrated when students reject their ideology and methodology, so they indulge in these kinds of ghastly attacks on nationalistic organisations. We will see that these goons are arrested and booked under law.”
