Uttar Pradesh is preparing for a major international presence at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026, scheduled to take place in Davos, Switzerland, from January 19 to 23. The participation marks a crucial step in the state’s mission to transform itself into a global investment powerhouse and a preferred destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), a sector witnessing rapid global expansion. Backed by a strong vision of industrial growth under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh’s engagement at WEF 2026 is being driven through Invest UP, which is the state’s dedicated investment promotion and facilitation agency. Invest UP has initiated the process of engaging a professional international agency to design and execute the state’s presence at Davos, ensuring that Uttar Pradesh’s participation reflects both professionalism and global competitiveness.
The UP delegation will be led by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna and Industries and Infrastructure Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, accompanied by senior government officials and representatives from Invest UP. Their collective focus will be to showcase UP’s growth story, emphasise policy reforms that promote ease of doing business, and position Uttar Pradesh as a key player in the global economic landscape.
The ministers are expected to hold a series of high-level meetings with CEOs, foreign investors, diplomats, and multilateral organisations to discuss emerging investment opportunities in the state. These interactions will highlight the success of industrial policies, the time-bound implementation of projects, and the government’s commitment to transparency and good governance.
One of the most strategic goals for the Uttar Pradesh delegation at Davos will be to project the state as an upcoming hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), technology and service delivery centres established by multinational corporations to support global operations. Officials believe that Uttar Pradesh’s growing infrastructure network, improved connectivity, large skilled workforce, and competitive business environment make it an ideal location for such centres. Uttar Pradesh aims to attract global companies looking to expand operations beyond traditional metro hubs and into high-potential, cost-efficient regions of India.
By positioning itself as a GCC destination, Uttar Pradesh seeks to leverage the global partnerships to boost employment, promote innovation, and strengthen its digital and service ecosystem.
The participation in WEF 2026 comes as a continuation of the momentum built by the UP Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2023, which witnessed investment proposals worth several lakh crores. Following that success, the state government has accelerated its outreach to international investors through trade delegations, policy reforms, and industrial facilitation initiatives.
According to officials, WEF 2026 provides an opportunity to amplify the state’s achievements on a world platform, particularly in sectors such as renewable energy, logistics, manufacturing, IT, defence, textiles, and food processing.
Invest UP has been tasked with developing a comprehensive engagement plan for Davos that will include thematic presentations, investment showcases, and multimedia branding sessions. The focus will be on presenting UP’s industrial transformation story, featuring the state’s improved infrastructure, expressways, industrial corridors, and logistics hubs alongside its progressive policies that simplify business procedures and ensure time-bound project approvals. The delegation’s schedule will include bilateral meetings with key global players, round-table discussions, and sector-specific networking sessions designed to generate investment leads and strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s brand visibility as an industrial destination.
By participating in WEF 2026, Uttar Pradesh aims to not only attract foreign investments but also to deepen its partnerships with global business leaders and multilateral institutions. The initiative underscores the state’s ambition to play a more significant role in the global economy, aligning with India’s larger vision of becoming a $5 trillion economy.
Uttar Pradesh’s presence at Davos is expected to project a strong narrative of progress, stability, and opportunity. It sends a clear message to the world that Uttar Pradesh is ready to be a strategic partner in global growth, offering a fertile ground for innovation, industry, and inclusive development.
