Guwahati: Bangladeshi origin Miya-Muslims are now upto grabbing Hindu-Assamese people’s ancestral land with a threat to kill them. The incident was reported from Dhing area in the minority populous Nagaon district in middle Assam. The 40-50 Assamese Hindu families in Aathgaon are facing tremendous aggression from the surrounding Bangladeshi origin Miya community. During the Assam agitation in early 80’, these families had to leave their ancestral farming land in Barbeel Chapori area in fear of life. Gradually the area saw a huge Muslim population growth and the farm lands were surrounded by Miya-Muslims now. After the agitation was over, the Hindu families went back to the Barbeel Chapori area for farming purposes.

But during the Congress regime from 2001 to 2016 the Miya-Muslims tried to grab the farm land threatening the Assamese families. But with police help the Assamese families reclaimed their rights after BJP came to power in 2016. On November 13, when the Hindu farmers went to their farm land, hundreds of Miya-Muslims armed with mason and sharp weapons attacked them.

The Miya goons threatened Hindu farmers to kill them if they returned to their farm land. 8 Miya land mafias namely Asad Ali, Shahidul Islam, Hamid Ali, Rafiqul Islam, Zakir Hussain, Saidul Islam, Shafiqul Islam and Rafiq Ali are leading the attack against Assamese Hindu farmers and grabbed over 1000 bighas of Patta land of the Hindu farmers. “We will cut you and throw your bodies in the river”, the Miya goons threatened.   Police and administration have conducted eviction drives several times in that area but after every eviction the Miya-Muslim re encroach the Hindu farm land in the riverine area.

Reacting to the attack of Miya-Muslims on Assamese farmers, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, once the BJP government is out of power, Miya will grab the entire state. The Assamese people who are now opposing the BJP will repaint that day. “The BJP government has raised a high dam between the Assamese and the aggression of Miya. 40 percent aggressive people who are not like us are waiting for that day.”, CM Sarma said.

He further added that despite there being a BJP government in the state, we can see their aggression in many pockets and on social media. “Once Congress comes to power, you can’t imagine how far they will go. These people are violent and they will not only kill and throw us in river, they will first rape our women and then will kill them. This is their history.”, the CM said.  CM Sarma further opined that Assamese society has to remain united otherwise these Miya are waiting for a chance to grab Assam. The Congress and left parties are not supporters of Assamese people, they are the biggest patrons of Bangladeshi Miya-Muslims.
