Ramleela in Ayodhya begins Its seventh edition with episodes from Ramayan

The much-anticipated Ramleela commenced on Monday in Ayodhya, the sacred birthplace of Bhagwan Ram, amid an atmosphere filled with devotion and grandeur. The seventh edition of this spectacular event began at the iconic Ram Katha Park, opening with scenes depicting the birth of Bhagwan Ram.

Renowned actor Vindu Dara Singh captivated the audience with his powerful portrayal of Bhagwan Shiva, while veteran actor Avtar Gill took on the role of Narad Muni. Bollywood actress Sonam Tiwari brought grace and poise to her performance as Devi Parvati.

This year’s production features an ensemble of notable personalities, including actor Puneet Ishwar, Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari, MP Ravi Kishan, and many others. Over the coming days, the cast will enact various episodes from the epic Ramayan, promising a visual and spiritual treat for viewers.

Organisers have highlighted that Ayodhya’s Ramleela ranks among the largest theatrical depictions of the Ramayan in the world. Last year alone, over 45 crore people tuned in to watch the event live. Founder-President Subhash Malik and General Secretary Shubham Malik announced that the Ramleela will be broadcast live daily from 7 pm to 10 pm, encouraging devotees to join from their homes and offer their blessings.

The opening day featured a series of riveting episodes. It began with Bhagwan Shiva and Devi Parvati listening to the tale of Bhagwan Ram. This was followed by Kamdev disturbing Narad’s meditation, leading to a unique scene where Narad, transformed into a monkey, attempts to organise a swayamvar. Another segment portrayed Bhagwan Vishnu receiving a curse that he would require the assistance of monkeys in a future incarnation. The day concluded with a dramatic portrayal of Ravan, Kumbhkaran, and Meghnad performing penance and seeking divine boons.

Expressing his joy, Vindu Dara Singh said, “Om Namah Shivaya is all I want to say. Serving Bhagwan Shiva here in Ayodhya fills me with pride. While Ramleela is celebrated across India, Ayodhya’s version is truly magnificent.”

Veteran actor Avtar Gill shared, “I return to Ayodhya every year. The city is transforming – new roads, ongoing development – Ayodhya is flourishing.”

Another participant, Naval, shared his heartfelt sentiments, “This is my third year participating in this sacred production. It’s a blessing to be a part of Ramleela on this holy land of Bhagwan Ram.”

The grand production will continue over several days, bringing to life key chapters of the Ramayan, and is expected to draw massive crowds and an even larger viewership via live telecast.
