Vijayawada: On the occasion of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Ji’s birth anniversary on 25 September, senior journalist Raka Sudhakar said in Vijayawada that India’s development programmes should not be dictated by foreign thinking but must be rooted in local realities and the aspirations of its people. He recalled that in 1965, in Vijayawada, Integral Humanism was adopted as both practice and policy, and stressed that economic decisions must reflect the conditions of society and ensure that growth reaches the last person.
He added that the practical unveiling of Jan Sangh leader Pandit Deendayal Ji’s ideas took place in Vijayawada itself, and emphasised that social media platforms should be utilised to spread the nationalist discourse rapidly among the people.
At Vijayawada Metropolitan Hotel, Pandit Deendayal Ji’s birth anniversary celebrations were organised under the banner of Bhavakamalam. Speakers expressed that because of Deendayal Ji’s ideas, it became possible to uplift people living below the poverty line. AP BJP Chief P. V. N. Madhav, while speaking, stated that Pandit Deendayal Ji’s birth anniversary is special for Vijayawada.
In January 1965, during the Jan Sangh meetings, Pandit Deendayal’s ideas were announced in Vijayawada itself. This year, Sangh centenary celebrations are being held. Taking the concept of Atmanirbhar Bharat as the platform, efforts are being made for a self-reliant India. Comparing this with Donald Trump’s “Be American, Buy American” slogan, which discriminated against other countries, Madhav highlighted Modi’s reforms, including simplified GST and a 99% reduction in prices, which he described as historic.
Fate brought Pandit Deendayal Ji to a destitute situation. From his birth to death, everything was very ordinary. In 1967, in Calicut, Pandit Deendayal Ji was elected as the All India President. It must be questioned whether giving welfare schemes or money alone can bring happiness, Madhav remarked.
Everything must move according to the needs of the era. Madhav criticised the Left parties saying that Bharatiya Jana Sangh achieved many successes in the country, and it was only through Jana Sangh that a non-Congress government could be formed, a fact that caused concern for Congress and Left forces.
Senior Journalist Raka Sudhakar, who participated as chief speaker, said, “The World Health Organisation’s interpretation of health is the very point already given by Deendayal. Nature worship is an integral part of our life. From the individual to society… ensuring society’s well-being was Deendayal Upadhyaya’s thought”.
Citing the Antyodaya scheme, first launched in Rajasthan, and the MNREGA scheme, originally conceptualised by a Londoner but given real direction under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they underlined that Deendayal Ji’s philosophy remains central to India’s progress.
He also reiterated that economic decisions must reflect local conditions and that development must reach the last man. He explained that although MNREGA was first conceived outside India, it was only under Narendra Modi’s leadership that it began to achieve its real purpose.
He recalled examples such as the invention of the wet grinder by Sabapathi, who despite not completing 10th class, thought of easing the burdens of women. During the Covid pandemic, India set up PPE kit manufacturing units that created five lakh jobs. In Amethi, Modi’s government established a factory for producing AK-47 bullets.
The Modi government, it was underlined, is functioning on the basis of Deendayal Upadhyaya’s vision. The policy of Atmanirbhar Bharat being followed today was the very model that Deendayal Ji had envisioned. The Bhagavatam, which spoke of how earnings must be spent, reflected the same philosophy that Deendayal preached.
Muttavarapu Murali Krishna, State President of Cow-based Farmers, said he has been serving society with nationalist ideals and shared that he had given up soft drinks 20 years ago.
Chigurupati Naresh, Convener of Bhavakamalam, explained that the platform has been working as the voice of nationalists. Prominent Rotarian G. V. Rama Rao, NTR District BJP President Adduri Sriram and others were also present on the occasion.
