BJP MLA Malati Rava Roy, who visited the village to assess the situation, was allegedly threatened by Trinamool Congress (TMC) cadres during her visit. Speaking to the media, she condemned the attack, asserting that this was not an isolated incident. “Several murtis in the region have been targeted by unidentified miscreants,” she said, alleging a pattern of systematic attacks on Hindu religious symbols under the ruling party’s watch.

The incident has sparked outrage among local communities, who fear rising intolerance and political intimidation in the region. Sources say the vandalism comes amid growing reports of assaults on Hindu places of worship across West Bengal, with BJP leaders accusing the TMC of either orchestrating or turning a blind eye to such acts.

The BJP MLA further demanded immediate action against the perpetrators and accused TMC authorities of failing to protect religious sites, warning that continued neglect could inflame communal tensions in the district.
