J&K: Tajamul Hussain Mir, Rehmat Ali Naikoo among 5 terror associates arrested in Kulgam arms seizure

KULGAM: In a significant security operation in south Kashmir, Kulgam Police, in coordination with the Army’s 9 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the 18th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), arrested five alleged terrorist associates and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from Khrewan Chadder in Kulgam district.

According to officials, the joint operation was launched following credible intelligence inputs, leading to the arrest of the five suspects. The recovery of firearms, ammunition and grenades has prompted further investigation into the case.

The seized material included two pistols, three magazines, 40 rounds of 9mm ammunition and three hand grenades, officials told the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

The arrested individuals have been identified as Tajamul Hussain Mir, son of Manzoor Ahmed Mir, a resident of Gufbal; Rehmat Ali Naikoo, son of Gh Hassan Naikoo, a resident of Khrewan; Tehrim Ahmed Bhat, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Khrewan; Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, son of Gh Hassan Bhat, a resident of Khrewan Chadder; and Kifayat Ahmed Dar, son of Ab Rasheed Dar, a resident of Maltalhama in Kulgam.

Officials said a case has been registered under relevant sections of law and further investigation is underway to establish the alleged roles of the accused and determine the circumstances surrounding the recovered weapons.
