Bhubaneswar: In a landmark move to boost Odisha’s industrial growth, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday laid the foundation stones for 27 new industrial projects spanning 12 districts. The projects, with a combined investment of over Rs 25,000 crore, are poised to generate more than 52,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities for the state’s youth. The event, hosted by the Industries Department at the Convention Centre of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), marks a significant milestone in the state’s journey towards becoming Eastern India’s manufacturing hub.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Majhi emphasised that every fresh investment in Odisha reflects the rising trust of global and domestic investors in the state’s policies and governance. “Odisha is steadily moving up the manufacturing value chain, producing high-value products that can compete in international markets,” he noted.

Odisha is moving towards a new era of industrial growth and opportunity. Calling upon industry leaders to actively participate in the state’s ambitious “Ek Ped Maa Ki Naam 2.0” campaign, the Chief Minister urged companies to undertake extensive plantation drives in their respective regions. He emphasized that development and environmental sustainability must go hand in hand. Odisha has pledged to plant 75 lakh saplings on September 17 to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday.

At the event, CM Majhi also virtually laid the foundation stones for projects in Ganjam, Khordha, Jharsuguda, Koraput, and Angul districts. Several industrialists were felicitated for their new investments in the state.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain praised the state’s robust administrative framework and business-friendly environment, stating that Odisha is fast emerging as a preferred investment destination. “With the Chief Minister’s vision and confidence, Odisha has become a hub of industrial and economic progress,” he added.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja echoed the sentiment, stressing that determination and strong willpower are key to achieving success, while Development Commissioner Anu Garg and leading industrialists were also present on the dais. The session began with a welcome address by Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma and concluded with a vote of thanks by Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Skill Development Department.

With these latest projects, Odisha has further strengthened its position on India’s industrial map, signaling a future of rapid economic growth and employment generation.
