“Pakistan is a state sponsor of terror”, Human Rights lawyer slams Pakistan in the UN Watch platform

Pakistan being prone to shameful and embarrassing scenarios in the global platforms is not a new phenomenon. Islamabad once again pushed itself to such an awkward situation in the esteemed UN Watch platform. Human Rights lawyer Hillel Neuer outrightly criticized Pakistan and put the nation in a hotspot by calling out it as the “state sponsor of terrorism”. The statement acts as solid evidence in India’s efforts against the terror atrocities emanating from Pakistan

Pakistan pushed itself to an awkward and global embarrassment situation while a serious discussion regarding the Israel attack on Doha was underway in the United Nations Watch platform. Hillel Neuer, Human Rights lawyer and the Executive Director of UN Watch, outrightly criticized Pakistan for being the state sponsor of terrorism.

Interestingly, Hillel Neuer did not initiated an attack on Pakistan, but it was the Pakistani delegate who himself invited the trouble by unnecessarily interrupting a serious discussion on terrorism that was targeted at Qatar. The incident unleashed when Mr. Hillel Neuer was criticizing Qatar for “harbouring the terrorists” and being a state sponsor of terrorism, as Qatar hosts the political office of Hamas, which is a US designated terror outfit. Few days ago, Israel hit the Hamas establishments in Doha with precision targeting.

While speaking, Mr. Hillel Neuer recalled the killing of Osama Bin Laden in 2011 who was seeking a safe haven in Pakistan. It seems that the Pakistani delegate was irked by the Bin Laden statement uttered by Hillel Neuer. The Pakistani delegate, thus, abruptly interrupted the Director of UN watch and urged the UNHRC Chairperson to ensure that no speaker violated the UN Charter and territorial integrity of sovereign member states. He further added, “We reject casting unfounded accusations and allegation”.

However, the UNHRC chair didn’t react much to the Pakistan statement and said that the discussions are not on substantive issues. He also immediately passed the floor back to Hillel Neuer and reminded the later that he had only four seconds left to complete his speech. In these last four seconds, Hillel Neuer destroyed Pakistan with one solid statement. He affirmed, “Mr. President, Pakistan is another state sponsor of terrorism”.

Today at the U.N. I asked Qatar: “If you don’t want targeted bombings on terrorists in your capital, why do you harbor terrorists in your capital? Why is your Al Jazeera serving as Hamas' non-stop propaganda arm? Why do you act as mediator by day, and a terror sponsor by night?” https://t.co/xi2EZlC5B7 pic.twitter.com/tTghv5JK4U

The befitting and chilling assertion made by the Director of the UN watch, came as a solid evidence for the state-sponsored terrorism that runs deep in the roots of Pakistan. The sharp statement by Hillel Neuer also acts as a reflection of India’s persistent counter-terrorism efforts against the state-sponsored terrorism and extremism emanating from Pakistan that is apparently, affecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India. Meanwhile, Osama Bin Laden was caught deep inside the Pakistani territory was an undeniable testament to Pakistan’s support for terrorists and atleast in future Islamabad should stop acting as the beacon of respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of others’. Atleast then it can expect some global respect and not being subject to geopolitical backlash and awkwardness.
