Kremlin has confirmed that the unmanned surface vessel of Russia has sunk the Ukrainian naval ship leading to the death of one Ukrainian crew member and several others being injured. The spokesperson of the Ukrainian Navy Dmytro Pletenchuk has acknowledged the catastrophe; however other details of the attack such as time and location are yet to be revealed. Even the name of the Ukrainian vessel hasn’t been disclosed from the government of Ukraine.

As per the report published in the Kyiv Independent, most of the crew members in the Ukrainian vessel have survived, however many are missing, therefore search and rescue operations are underway. Meanwhile, Dmytro Pletenchuk reiterated to media that the Ukrainian military is sorting out a way to deal with the consequences of the attack. “Efforts to address the aftermath of the attack are on-going. The majority of the crew are safe, and the search for several missing sailors continues,” Pletenchuk asserted.

On the other hand, Defence Ministry of Russia confirmed that the unmanned Russian Naval drone sank the Ukrainian Navy’s medium reconnaissance ship Simferopol in the Danube River, an estuary located in Ukraine that further flows into the Black Sea. But, even Russian side didn’t name the type of the Ukrainian ship that was attacked. Military analyst of Russia Denis Fedutinov said that the attack was carried out by a remotely operated boat.

As a retaliatory strike, Ukraine claimed that it struck Russian warship that were carrying small missiles in the Sea of Azov, causing damages to the Russian vessel. “As a result of the strikes, a Russian missile ship, which was in the potential launch zone of Kalibr missiles in the Temryuk Bay, was damaged and forced to leave the combat duty area,” Ukrainian military intelligence sources said.

The scenario reflects the fact that, more than three-year old Russia-Ukraine conflict seems no sigh of relief and peace, despite the relentless efforts anchored by the US President Donald Trump. From the high-stake Alaska Summit with the Russian President Vladimir Putin to the White House drama and other political stunts repeatedly done with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other European leaders, to utilizing ‘tariffs’ & ‘sanctions’ as a weapon to stop the war by imposing irrational and unreasonable tariffs on countries, every path carved by Donald Trump to end the war and fulfill his political ambitions is going in vain. There seems no end to war until either Moscow or Kiev either bows down completely or strikes a full-fledged victory. Meanwhile, how the US President strikes a deal and champions his political goals, still remains an enigma!
