In April this year, authorities in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, uncovered a case involving a group accused of targeting young women, primarily from a specific educational institution. According to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), explicit videos of 64 girls were recovered from the phone of the alleged ringleader, identified as Farhan, with 58 of the videos reportedly involving girls from the same institution.

Investigators also found that Farhan’s sister, Zoya, played a role in approaching and influencing the girls. She allegedly threatened to release explicit videos to coerce them. The SIT further reported that Farhan pressured some of the girls to recite religious texts and informed them about religious practices. The investigation is ongoing, and legal proceedings are expected to follow based on the findings.

According to a report, the main accused, Farhan, primarily targeted female students from TIT College in Bhopal. The majority of the victims identified so far are reportedly from this institution. The report states that Farhan’s sister, Zoya, played an active role in approaching and manipulating the girls, not only for Farhan but also for some of his associates.

Zoya is alleged to have contacted girls who had ceased communication with Farhan, telling them that he was emotionally distressed and urging them to reconnect. In several instances, she reportedly threatened to release explicit videos if they did not comply. One girl recounted that Zoya claimed she would make the video public even before Farhan had the chance. Additionally, the report suggests that Farhan and his associates attempted to pressure the girls into religious conversion.

According to reports, Farhan and his associates reportedly spoke to the girls about the perceived spiritual power of their prayers and allegedly made derogatory remarks about Hinduism. They are also accused of attempting to indoctrinate the girls by teaching them Islamic practices such as Roza (fasting during Ramadan) and the Kalma (Islamic declaration of faith). A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently investigating the case.

So far, Farhan and four others have been arrested, while one suspect remains at large. Authorities are actively working to locate the absconding individual, and new developments are emerging as the investigation continues.

The SIT has also uncovered that Farhan allegedly used the bank accounts of two of the girls to carry out share trading, with transactions amounting to approximately Rs 15 lakh. Separately, around Rs 50 lakh in transactions have been identified in Farhan’s personal accounts. Investigators are now working to trace the recipients and the nature of these financial dealings.

During police interrogation, Farhan allegedly claimed that the group viewed their actions as justified and part of a broader agenda to target Hindu girls. He reportedly expressed no remorse for the acts of coercion, blackmail, or sexual assault, suggesting he believed these actions were virtuous according to his personal interpretation of religious beliefs. These claims are part of the ongoing investigation, and law enforcement officials continue efforts to apprehend all individuals involved and build a comprehensive case.
