Mumbai: “Bharat has always been the mother of brave women and exemplar luminaries. One such great personality was Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar, who is considered the embodiment of good governance and public welfare in the Bharatiya tradition. In a short span of time, she not only established an ideal good governance, but also built strong pillars of social harmony, justice and security. She is a timeless symbol of Bharatiya woman power,” said RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale in a grand programme organised by Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Trishatabdi Jayanti Samaroh Samiti, Mumbai Metropolitan.

The event was attended by thousands of people from various sections of society. On this occasion, Udayraje Holkar, a descendant of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar, was present as chief guest. He said, “Ahilyadevi was a visionary ruler, who expressed Bharat’s cultural, astronomical and scientific consciousness by building a sun clock in Maheshwar. She believed that Gaumata is the backbone of the Bharatiya economy, and prosperity is possible only through her protection.”

During the 300th birth anniversary year, efforts were made to spread the inspirational life and contribution of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar among the masses through various programmes and seminars throughout the past year. In the same series, a function was organised at Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya campus in Dadar, Mumbai, where a large number of youth and women participated.

During the programme, information was given about the reconstruction work done by Ahilyadevi in pilgrimage places like Kashi, Gaya, Dwarka, Rameshwaram, which shows that she was not only a politician but also a national hero whose vision was focused on the dharmik renaissance and cultural prosperity of Bharat.
