“With Great power comes great Responsibility”. Though New Delhi and Washington are intimately aligned with each other and are gradually gravitating towards a conjoined “Allyhood”, the current American tirade of reciprocal trade seems to be the surmounting challenge in the context of the India US relations. That’s the staple, traditional and conventional template of Diplomacy and Foreign Policy if one uses the twin words interchangeably.

Moving onwards to an instance of Diplomatic excess and vitiation, one has to delve inside what all the White House is planning and steadfastly attempting akin to New Delhi when it comes to the question of being a conflict resolver and a peace nick instrument in the larger comity of nations.  In the contemporary context of the Russian invasion of a beleaguered and outgunned Kyiv, one cannot escape but witness the irate exchanges between President Donald Trump and President Zelensky who the American President has repeatedly called as a, “Corrupt Dictator” who does not let the Elections happen in Ukraine in the name of a Russia led national security crisis in Ukraine.

The manner in which US Vice President arrogantly arrogated to himself as the forceful negotiator par excellence in France recently and how he berated Zelensky for mishandling and being a slapstick Diplomat in front of the entirety of the American Media which had gathered in the Press enclave of the White House. The comic interlude to the heated exchanges amounted to obscene hilarity when one of the correspondents quizzed the Ukrainian President that why he does not wear a suit. The Head of State from Kyiv was very proactively forthright in answering that on that matter that why he does not wear a suit, he will wear one after the war. Then, President Trump intervened sarcastically and contended that tell the American correspondent that he will wear a suit akin to yours or something which is better than what the American media person is donning!

Academically speaking it was a kind of Diplomatic dalliance gone haywire and awry. It apparently seemed like the “Immediacy of the Global Media Diplomacy” had taken a drastic toll on the bilateral Summitry on which the destiny Ukraine depended upon. It might be that it is nor the unpreparedness of the Diplomatists which made the Summitry harsh and unpalatable, but rather the brazen power of the American fountain head of strength which went out of control in a moment of egotistic bigotry more so from the fence of American ringside. The American President Donald Trump has executed what all the diplomats, heads of States and Ukraine feared the most. It’s the fear of American inaction, noninterventionism and noninterference which is challenged globally in the context of International Law but something which the Japanese and the South Koreans have complained against when they voice the allegation that America is being  thrifty and inadequate in imparting the shade of its security Umbrella to the nations in the Indo Pacific with the specificity of curbing the Chinese expansionism and adventurism in the nearby maritime space.

President Trump during his explosive spat-Diplomacy alleged that Kyiv was being overbearing and Zelensky was being rude and too much forthright in his arguments. While Zelensky was all protocols and officious, President Trump was seemingly inspired by his aggressive campaigning days to oust Joe Biden.  Still, it’s not that the first and second officers had not done their research and were unprepared as that does not happen when the entire stability of the Summitry hinged on the transaction as Trump’s Diplomacy has come to be known and identified as.

Still, one might feel as a Bhartiya that aligning too much with Moscow might dilute the execution and global objectives of US Foreign policy which are namely, democratization, protection of Human rights, constitutionalism and the rule of law dictum. To a layman, it appears that President Trump is leaving aside and abandoning Kyiv in its pursuit of freedom and independence vis a vis the “Special Operating acts” which the Russian President saves his aggression with. US appears weak and mundane while being violent with Ukraine’s head of State and when it aligns with Russia as the old school in America still does not ascribe to the notion of their nation being hanky dory with Russia. Also, cosying up with Russia might amount to neglecting the trans Atlantic engagement with the European Union and also without the American technology, weaponry and financial aid, the entire Ukrainian nation might go down heartlessly and the entire blame for the final defeat  and the humanitarian disaster, which will follow falls entirely on the unpredictable and the self righteous diplomacy of President Trump. Also, the manner in which President Trump set aside all decency and sobriety and commented that, “ You should behave yourself as you are in capacity of dictating. You have no leverage and what you are doing will have a lethal consequences for your nation and your people.”
