In a brazen and unprecedented act of violence, Shri Rangarajan, the revered Archaka (priest) of the iconic Shri Chilkur Balaji Temple, was brutally assaulted within the sanctity of his own home, adjacent to the temple premises, on the evening of Friday, February 7th. This shocking attack has sparked outrage and disbelief among the temple’s vast devotee community.

However, amidst this despair, Rangarajan is safe. This temple, located 30 km from Hyderabad, is visited by thousands of devotees daily and is revered as the “Tirumala of Telangana.”

The attackers, who audaciously claim to be descendants of the Ikshwaku clan, are reportedly part of a radical group aiming to establish a distorted version of “Rama Rajya” through the formation of private militias. Their sinister agenda targets those who refuse to align with their extremist mission. Rangarajan, known for his unwavering commitment to the principles of Constitutional Rama Rajya and his refusal to associate with such fanatic elements, became the unfortunate target of their barbaric aggression.

According to Dr. M.V. Soundararajan, Convenor of the Temples Protection Movement and father of the victim, the assailants stormed their residence and violently manhandled Rangarajan, landing multiple blows on him without provocation. The assault, carried out with shocking impunity, has been condemned as an affront not just to an individual but to the very sanctity of temple service and spiritual heritage.

In his press note, Dr. Soundararajan stated that a formal police complaint has been lodged, and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The family has urged law enforcement to conduct an exhaustive probe, identifying not only the attackers but also the shadowy networks supporting them, both directly and indirectly.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the devotee community, with many expressing deep concern over the growing audacity of fringe elements who exploit religious sentiments for personal agendas.

This heinous attack raises alarming questions about the safety of religious figures and the increasing boldness of extremist factions operating under the guise of spiritual righteousness.

As the probe progresses, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the motives, networks, and individuals behind this unprecedented act of violence.
